We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and dinner. He speaks many languages so communication was easy. We learned a lot from him about the area. TORIO is a very small rural location in a lush tropical setting with very friendly people. Nearby is Playa TORIO which has good swimming.

Very little tourism around, so you can have a real Panamanian experience. Great hikes and beautiful waterfalls reachable by half day hikes (for some you have to take a bus for 1-3$ towards Guabal). The host has a Website-App (!) that provides all info, tracked hikes etc. The bar has very fair prices, especially during Happy Hour (e.g. 6x Beer in a bucket for 4.5$). But, the best is yet to come: most of the proceeds from your stay at this place go directly into supporting indigenous families. The owner runs a mission program to provide free medical assistance in remote locations. We had the chance to meet a group of volunteers that started their mission one morning from the eco lodge. Really inspiring! Before I forget: as we extended our stay upfront to four nights, we were invited for a free upgrade: a spacious triple room instead of two bunks in a dorm. Excellent service! ATM and local grocery store (Cooperativa) with everything you need at cheap prices just 150m from the place. Wi-Fi is strong enough to work and have video calls (most of the time).
