Located in Turangi, Riverstone Lodge, a 5-star hostel, offers a shared kitchen, a shared lounge and free WiFi. The property provides garden views and a terrace. This was one of the most amazing hostel experiences I have ever had! It doesn’t really feel like a hostel but more as a vacation home! The hostel has a lage and homey feeling living room/ kitchen and an amazing outside deck. A huge bonus is the hostel cat that is very friendly and will come to you when it wants cuddles and attention. Sandra the hostel oner is an amazing person. She is very kind and helpful even when you have a little freak out because you misunderstood the intercity times 😂 The accommodations is nice and clean and you have everything you need. If you want to do the crossing she can help you with the shuttle bus and more information.

The bed bunks are the best! very comfy mattress, lovely privacy curtain and enough space for your stuff. The stairs to te top bunks is big (block of wood) so not painful like most. The chill area in the middle was very nice, kitchen as big, the dog was cool and the staff is the best! I stayed here again on my way back for 4 nights and told all my travel friends to book here.

The manager is great, the beds are comfy, ample communal space and kitchen, the cat roaming around is super cute and very cuddly. Fully recommended!

Based by the Lake offers accommodation centrally located in Taupo, just minutes from the lake. I enjoyed the location, the dorm, view from there, facilities. All was great
