I was encouraged to use the kitchen and cook a proper meal (I only ever boil water in hostels), which i was then able to share. My usual hostel communication consists of muttering 'Hi' or 'Monin', the top being 'Where are you from?' Here i was immediately engulfed in conversations and later spent a magical night talking, singing and a general internationa and intergenerational fun night. It might have been a random mix of random people, but I felt a strong genius loci. Cleanliness, practicality, location and value for money-absolute top number 1!
