Basecamp Wales offers family-run hostel accommodation in Llanllyfni, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and 30.3 km from Pen-Y-Pass and 8.2 km to the beach at Dinas Dinlle. Really friendly family that owns the place, excellent communal kitchen with loads of space and utensils, big common room with tv/pool table/eating tables etc. Good location with access to loads of walks around Snowdonia.

Featuring a bar, Tafarn Yr Heliwr is set in Nefyn in the Gwynedd region, 35 km from Portmeirion and 43 km from Snowdon Mountain Railway. Friendly and helpful staff and a great bar. Food was served from Wednesday to Sunday and it was excellent with a great selection of meals which are cooked fresh

Situated in Betws-y-coed, 20 km from Snowdon, Woodlands Centre features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Michele and Helen are such kind and warm people, they were very helpful with providing suggestions, information, advice, and maps! The location of the property is quite ideal. Use of fully equipped kitchen a definite plus as well.

Set in Capel-Curig, 11 km from Snowdon, The Rocks at Plas Curig Hostel offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a bar. We loved our stay at The Rocks! A beautiful hostel in a very strategic point for walks and hikes. Staff is super kind and welcoming, the room and common areas are extremely clean, there is a nice kitchen with all amenities. Room small but cosy, with nice views. Would stay again!

Situated in a converted school house, Lodge Dinorwig is located in Dinorwig, 8 km from Snowdon. Free private parking is available on site. Sonni and Simon are the most amazing, gracious hosts. They answered every question we had about nearby hikes and the home cooked breakfast every morning was so delicious!! Coming home after a hike to a delicious home cooked meal was the best feeling. One night when the weather was nice Simon even went out of his way to bring our dinner down to where we were sitting watching the sunset so we could enjoy an outdoor feast 😄 The hostel has such a homely feeling where you get to know everyone. I would recommend it to every person wanting to explore Snowdonia!

The owner met us and welcomed us warmly. Our room was very comfortable. The shared bathroom was clean and functioned well. The dining and living areas were well-kept. The basement dining room is really lovely - ancient and rare. Continental breakfast with multiple options. Location was exceptional. Plenty of public street parking and paid parking nearby. We found a free spot to use overnight. If we had needed to pay, it was minimal. I highly recommend this hostel.

Llangollen Hostel Self-catering Private Bedrooms is a 4-star, Victorian town house in the centre of Llangollen. Amazingly spacious, clean room with everything you’d need. Great to have all the usual hostel facilities while also having a hotel quality room and en suite! The location was top notch - parked in our usual car park and said “we better find the hostel” - looked up and there it was!

Boasting a shared lounge, Base Camp Snowdonia is situated in Betws-y-coed in the Clwyd region, 19 km from Snowdon and 25 km from Snowdon Mountain Railway. Helpful staff, good location, nice showers, comfortable beds, communal tables and seating area. Easy walk to bus & train. Bakery & shop just a minute away.

Set in Dolgellau in Snowdonia National Park, Kings boasts a barbecue and views of the mountains. Free private parking is available on site. Some rooms have views of the river or garden. Kings is a self-catering hostel, not a hotel. It was perfect for a large family group that included lots of small children. Communal cooking and washing up worked well, the lounge and books went down a treat, the football table was a success & the grounds, outdoor fire & bbq all proved memorable for the several related families that shared the stay. Dave (owner) provided friendly & discreet support that proved essential during an area-wide power failure.
