Located in Puerto Viejo, 200 metres from Negra Beach, Pagalù Hostel provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. i really enjoyed my stay at the hostel. the staff is super friendly and helpful. also it's really clean, especially the kitchen. the rooms are big, the beds are comfy. and it's quite at night. would defentily come back! one of the best hostels i have been to.

Offering a restaurant, Cabinas Algebra is located 2.5 km from Cahuita. Situated only 100 metres from Playa Grande beach, it features free WiFi and on-site parking. Everything. Especially the lovely staff. When we arrived they took the time to tell us everything we should know about the area (transportation, water, etc...). We ate a few times in the restaurant and the food was delicious.

Situated in Jaloba, Amaya's Hostel features a garden, shared lounge and terrace. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen, a tour desk and luggage storage for guests. Amazing hosts, they go above and beyond.

Boasting barbecue facilities and free WiFi, Kalunai Hostel is located in Puerto Viejo. The property has a garden, as well as a shared lounge. Kalunai is perfectly located close to the beach and amenities of Puerto Viejo. I was welcomed by Gonza (sorry for the spelling) and immediately felt at ease. The buildings doors all lead to the dormitories for step in access. Outside is a large open kitchen with two large social tables, many seats and hammocks to relax and socialise but at the same time also having some time to yourself. I stayed in a 4 bed dorm that was cosy but immediately outside the room was lockers and a table for which you could easily pack your bag or use as a desk to work from. There was also a shower/toilet for the three rooms that were in that section as well as more showers and toilets outside should it be occupied. Yanis (again not sure on the spelling) the owner was also very friendly and approachable as well as helpful. He offered to exchange my colons with him for dollars and gave me a fantastic rate. It was easy to use the laundry service and I received my laundry the same day. I also took advantage of the shuttle service to Bocas and that was easy with a pickup from the hostel. This hostel is very social but after 10:30 is quiet time so is suited to those wanting to sleep instead of party. In my opinion it has got the balance of party/social/quiet right! Kalunai is great value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate staying here again in the future.

Arcari Garden Hostel is located just 400 metres from Tortuguero National Park, just a few steps from the sea shores and features free WiFi access is available in all areas. The verandah above our room was a tucked away sanctuary with a lovely breeze that we enjoyed whiling away some time on watching the world go by. Staff were helpful and the tours we did fun. Particularly Andreas night tour. He was so informative and excited by nature.

Set in Puerto Viejo, 500 metres from Negra Beach, El Clan Hostel offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a bar. Everything this place raises the bar for hostel life. The pool! The receptionists were both very helpful and were so kind to me during my stay. The bathrooms are amazing and reminded me of for Vegas hotels, the women who stay here are beautiful and frequent the pool, easy bike rentals, and all the accomodations any adventurer could desire. I really dug the outside planter/sink combos for general washing and laundry. The woman who runs this place is an absolute goddess and is quite possibly one of her most stunning women I have seen in Costa Rica, ever. 🤤

The beach was only steps away. Excellent restaurant right on site. There is a grocery store about 1 km away. Shared kitchen had everything you would need to cook. The staff were so friendly and knowledgable.

Set in Tortuguero and with Tortuguero Beach reachable within a few steps, Chinitas Eco Lodge offers a tour desk, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a terrace. Guests can enjoy garden views. This place is truly paradise! An authentic eco-lodge run by a lovely local family. This lodge is located in San Francisco which is a neighboring village, a short 5-10 minute boat ride from the main village of Tortuguero. You can take a private boat taxi or catch the local boat service for very cheap. I truly enjoyed staying in San Francisco rather than Tortuguero. The village is much more local, with very few tourists, offering a slower and more authentic local experience. Geraldo, Ana Rita, and Victor made me feel like family during my entire stay. Geraldo was a guide in this area for over 40 years and has so many lovely stories to share about his life here. Ana Rita is the master administrator and lovely matriarch of the family that can help you with booking any tours, boat transfers, or services that you require during your stay. Victor has great energy and prepared beautiful meals for me daily which were healthy, filling, and varied from day to day. I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful lodge for 5 nights. Most people only stay in the area for 2-3 nights but I definitely recommend extending your stay because the local area and lifestyle has so much to offer. During my stay, my room was cleaned daily and the sheets were changed every other day which was a lovely addition I wasn't expecting. Just from the property, I was able to see a variety of different wildlife passing through such as toucans, tiger herons, and a variety of other birds and frogs. I couldn't have asked for a more amazing and tranquil experience. I hope to return once more and spend another week with this lovely family in the future.
