Lugano
Guests enjoy free use of all public transport in Ticino during their stay, as well as discounts on several leisure facilities. Please note that a daily surcharge applies to guests who are not members of the Youth Hostel Association. It was my second time staying there. The host was nice. The room and the bed were excellent.
Lugano
The Hotel&Hostel Montarina occupies a historic Villa built around 1860, only 200 metres from the Lugano train station. It offers a park with a pool, free WiFi and a limited number of free parking spaces. Everything is well organaized, clean. All services, restrictions were well explained in small leaflet they gave me at reception. Receptionists who attended me were all kind and helped me to find a solution, how to get the train etc. The response to my email inquiries prior to my stay was also very quick. It was worth adding a breakfast! What I wasn't expected was "ticino ticket app" that I was given free transport for the duration of my stay. People say that prices are high in Switzerland, but if the service is this good, it is worth it.
Carona
Casa Calina has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Carona. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a shared kitchen and a tour desk, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The property is non-smoking and is set 9.4 km from Lugano Station.
The hostel offers a children's playground. Guests at Casa Calina will be able to enjoy activities in and around Carona, like cycling.
Nice and affordable place for those who would like to enjoy the mountain and lake view from a nice yard or common balcony, cook their own food, hang out and potentially meet some people in a cozy common room.

Great location near the lake! It is cheap for Switzerland, and paid parking is 4 minutes away. Again, the location and little town was great.
They have stove and microwave right in the room, it's amazing for budget backpacker who don't mild self-catering

Great location. Near train station and with bus 3 connecting the rest of the city. The receptionists and stuff were really friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, the balcony was a great addition. Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Breakfast is good and cheap. I would visit again for the next stay.
Safe area near the city centre of Lugano! Exceptional staff who gave us tips on where to go in Lugano and gave us Ticino tickets to travel the area. Fair, budget option which has a microwave and kettle to use (other facilities require an extra payment of 15 chf). Great that we could also use the laundry room equipped with washing machines and dryers.
