WARNING: DANGEROUS FOR SOLO FEMALE TRAVELERS!
I’ve been traveling the world for 14 years, but I’ve never experienced something as terrifying as this. From the moment I arrived at this property, I felt something was off. The manager was heavily intoxicated, reeking of alcohol, and without hesitation, asked if I wanted to share drugs with him. His behavior made my skin crawl.
While he showed me around, his questions were invasive and creepy, as if he owned not just the property but me as well. The more he spoke, the more uncomfortable I became, but it was during the check-in that everything escalated. After I paid him, he tried to get close, touching me inappropriately. I immediately told him to stop, but that’s when he snapped. He exploded in rage, shouting at me, his face twisted with anger. I was terrified and felt utterly trapped .. the property is isolated, with no one nearby to help.
I managed to unlock the gate and run for my life, I’ve never felt so helpless. This man was completely out of control, violent, and aggressive. The worst part…he boasted that the police were his friends, laughing at the idea of me even trying to report him. I felt powerless.
I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. This man is a serious danger, and this hostel should be shut down immediately.
Solo travelers, especially women, please stay far, far away!!! No one should ever have to go through what I did.

Definitely you will not regret stopping in this cozy hostel near Kandy! Although I only spent one night Asanka made me feel like home and is extremely caring about his guests (he even came to the train station because it was raining!).He is the funniest host I have had in Sri Lanka so far and he will share his knowledge of history, culture and natural remedies with pleasure. I guess that is not gonna be me to give you less than 5 stars! Stuti for everything!

The only good thing about this room was the staff who were very kind and helpful. I didn't like anything else. The room had unbearable humidity, the sheets and pillowcases had cigarette holes and in general it did not look very clean. When I left I realized that they kept 300 lkr more. Also it is not so close to the center, but that's OK.

The staff were amazingly Helpful, friendly and very welcoming. The included breakfast was very nice and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were perfectly adequate for what we needed and the main lounge area was very nice hang out area. Good size room, comfy bed, great air con, bathroom had all facilities as required and everything was very clean and tidy. Great location for the city and lake etc. Would highly recommend staying for a low budget stay.
Definitely the best stay we had in Sri Lanka. An idyllic and beautiful place we’ve only seen in the movies so far. The hosts are super lovely and recommended us things to do and places to eat at that are authentic and charge local prices.
Definitely drive with the host’s go-to Tuk Tuk driver Gehan. He is super sweet and careful of your safety in Kandy plus you won’t find any cheaper Tuk Tuk anyway. All in all 10/10.

The value you get in this property is the best so far I've had for a hostel/dorm. It came with free breakfast and dinner! It had hot water, AC and free towels. Although the facility itself is not "vibey", it is clean and comfortable located in a safe and pretty accessible from the main area/city center. You also do get to meet other people as dinner and breakfast are served along with other guests.
Very clean & nice accommodation in a good location close to the railway station :) As a female solo-traveller I felt super safe. The hostel has a cute rooftop & the bathroom is amazing. The owners are super nice & friendly, help where they can & even took care of my staff whilst I was travelling the country. Definitely recommend it!

I have no hesitation in saying this - it is the best hostel to stay if you’re in Kandy! Very social, aforable doggos, value for money, lovely hosts and great location. I would go back again and again!
Breakfast and dinner were included in the price! Also the owner invites all the guests to a cookery lesson in the evening to learn about Sri Lankan food and meet the other guests. They also had a lovely pool which was a great bonus when your in the jungle setting. This is a great backpackers budget hostel with lovely friendly staff.
