Yamanouchi sekisan chi, hotel in Yokokura

Located in Yokokura, 2.6 miles from Jigokudani Monkey Park, Yamanouchi sekisan chi provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.

Friendly owner. Somewhat private room, instead of usual hostel setting. Comes with free ticket to the onsen in front of the station. 30 mins stroll to Shibu Onsen. If going to Shiga-kogen, load up with necessities at Lawson Yudanaka Station, as there is not much at Shiga-kogen.

NOZARU ONSEN HOSTEL, hotel in Yokokura

Featuring a hot spring bath and a terrace, Nozaru is a 7-minute drive from Yudanaka Station. It offers Japanese-style rooms, free WiFi at the lobby and a games room.

The hostel is traditional ryokan which I really liked, it has separate indoor onsen and small outdoor bath. The owner is very friendly. I’m a remote worker and internet worked really well. Close walk or a bus ride to both Monkey Park and the station.

Local Knot Backpackers -Moritomizu-, hotel in Yokokura

Located within a 11-minute walk of Nagano Station and 1.9 miles of Zenkoji Temple, Local Knot Backpackers -Moritomizu- provides rooms in Nagano.

It was my first time staying at a hostel and I was just hoping the room I would be staying in would have enough things to keep me warm from the cold winter season and it did. The bathroom was clean and even has a heater inside. I'd totally book here again when I'm back

The upstairs room was very clean and was easy to set up. The heaters made it super toasty in the snowy weather. Our host was super welcoming and friendly. There’s a breakfast option which we could pay for and it was worth it! The food was delicious and the servings were very generous. It’s a great location for heading to the snow fields or the snow monkeys, super easy to find and get to transport options.

The location is very convenient if arriving by train - only a few minutes walk. Also restaurants within walking distance. If arriving by car/motorbike there's a few parking spots. Seki-san, the owner, is extremely friendly and helpful! She also cooks a mean (japanese-style) breakfast, highly recommended :) The shared room is split into private rooms using a big divider and even so there were only 2 beds, not 4 as advertised, so definitely less "hostel" and more "hotel" - no bunk-beds here!
