The house Is Amazing, very old structure makes you feel you're in another era. But everything needed for comfort is new and modern. The hosts are super super nice and communicative. And the location is perfect for the city. Right next to Matsumoto castle

The house was huge for a family of 4. We enjoyed the traditional features and living. The property was homely, comfortable and interesting. It offered everything we needed. It is located within a short walk to Matsumoto Castle, park and other featured attractions. The bicycles provided by the property also offered an additional 'win' for us as we cycled around the city and enjoyed the sights and food on offer.

Guest House Ichiyama Shukuba, hotel in Matsumoto

Guest House Ichiyama Shukuba has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Matsumoto.

This hostel is perfectly located - short walking distance to both the train station and Matsumoto Castle. The dividers in the room made it feel like each bunk was an individual room - great for privacy (although still the noise issues of any hostel). The beds were very soft and comfortable. Free coffee in the morning was a nice bonus!

KIIIYA cafe&hostel, hotel in Matsumoto

Situated in Azumino, 15 km from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum, KIIIYA cafe&hostel features accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a restaurant.

Staff is friendly and helpful. I left my knapsack and came back for check-in later. The room is typically Japanese small and no furniture except a tiny lamp but the bed is big & comfy. The restaurant downstairs has served both breakfast and dinner. Though the menu is limited, the food tastes good.

Asama Onsen FAN! MATSUMOTO, hotel in Matsumoto

Situated in Matsumoto and within 6.1 km of Matsumoto Station, Asama Onsen FAN! MATSUMOTO has a restaurant, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property.

The food was amazing, superb value for money. Both the dinner and breakfast had a great variety of tasty and filling dishes. There were not many staff, but they were all very nice, professional, and welcoming. The room and other facilities were fairly clean but quite old. Boardgames for rental and a small game room with a retro famicom game were fun touches but may feel outdated. The room we stayed in that had been renovated to house bunkbeds was fun for my young son.

Shotaro the owner was very welcoming and fun to talk to. Hostel had a good vibe, cute lower level with kitchen and traditional japanese style sitting room with tatami floors and low tables. It encouraged travelers to mingle and I made friends there and then went out to dinner with them! Bunk bed in dorm was comfy.

Brian and the staff made everything so the guest would feel at home! The shared spaces are very inviting. The kitchen, the showers, and the dorms are very clean and comfortable. The hostel is in a great location near the JR Station but also in a queit area near the river

Great facilities, everything new, modern and spotlessly clean. Huge wooden bunk beds in the dorms which are much more spacious than the usual hostel dorm beds. Perfect location on a main shopping street. Helpful, friendly staff and a nice common room to meet other guests. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this is was perhaps my favourite ever in terms of comfort.

Best bunk beds, matresses and (supersoft) bedsheets I've had during my entire stay in Japan. Very comfortable, large beds and the indoor air climate of the dorms is well controlled. Bathrooms are clean and common kitchen is well equipped. Location is perfect, close to main attractions and still only 15 mins walking from the train station (but Matsumoto is not that big anyway). The street is a pedestrian little shopping street, so very quiet at night as well. I loved my stay and would recommend this hostel to anyone going to Matsumoto.

Very friendly hostel, in a great location not too far from Matsumoto castle. Rooms are Japanese style, with lots of space in the dorms. I had a large suitcase with me and there was plenty of storage space for it beside my futon! Lovely staff as well, great vibe in the hostel overall.

The room was well equipped with cheap video on demand, free WiFi, a phone, safe, kettle, amenities in the lobby such as razors & toothbrushes and the shower having both a handheld head and rainfall style was incredible. The vending machines and clothes washing facilities in the lobby were useful and the staff were very polite and nice.

The hostel is in a great location and so quiet. The staff are really helpful, but best of all you could feel the history of the place. We are a family of four (two boys aged 13 & 11) and all thought it was the best hostel we’ve stayed at - friendlier, more fun and better than many hotels. Would stay there happily again.
