We stayed at Hostel Fukuya for 2 nights this summer to hike up Mt. Fuji. We made it to the 7th point! To put it in a few words, the stay was absolutely charming, wonderfully pleasant, and we are 100% certain we will return for our next hike to the summit.
The room and the common area are spotless and well-thought out for the guests' comfort and convenience. The location is a brief walk from a local train stop, one can even see Mt. Fuji from the window. Having a young child, home-made breakfast and having someone so knowledgeable to ask questions about the area was very much appreciated. The hostess is bilingual and told us everything we needed to know about hiking the mountain. She enforces house rules with respect, which made the cohabiting pleasant and led us to meet the other guests and engaged in lively conversation at the breakfast table. I'd recommend this establishment in a heartbeat for anyone who comes to the area for the hike or otherwise.

We stayed in a private room at Hostel Michikusa-Ya in early September 2024. We enjoyed our stay very much. The hostel has a stunning view of Mount Fuji. The private rooms are very spacious and offer a traditional sleeping pad on the floor. The host is a very friendly man who has endless suggestions on food, activities, hikes and sites to see. He is very helpful in navigation around Kawaguchiko.
The hostel does not offer bike rentals, however there are bike rentals close by. I would recommend looking into bike rentals while staying here (unless you have a vehicle) because the walk to restaurants and sites from the hostel is quite far.
The host offers 3 different times for shuttle in the morning to the train station and can often pick up at the train station if you arrive. I was able to stay in contact with him via Booking.com chat.
When I was here there was mostly backpackers at the hostel, all were very quiet and mostly kept to themselves. It was a nice and relaxing atmosphere.
I would definitely book here again. Highly recommend this hostel!

The hostel is one of the best ones that I've been to so far. The common areas are very well-equipped, large, and comfortable, everything was ultra-clean. The rooms are fresh and enjoyable. It's such a great place to meet people as the common areas, lounge, kitchen and outdoor terrace make it very easy for one to connect.
Kawaguchiko is a beautiful village, and I would definitely repeat it. You can rent bikes from them as well!
Free coffee from 8 am to 10 am for the caffeine addicted.
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
The hostel was just beautiful! Extremely clean, bright and the room was spacious. The whole time it smelled like fresh cooked bread which was also delicious. The bikes were a bit tired but got us around the lake safely. Not a hostel to meet other travellers just a cosy home stay. Letting us leave our luggage all day was also a great perk!
Great value for money. The room was big for one person, with two beds (I guest I would have preferred a double/queen bed). The beds are comfy and they provided foam earplugs. Great location in Fujiyoshima, just right on Honcho St. where you can see a great view of Fuji (on a clear day!) Shared bathrooms were clean. It was a very aesthetically pleasing hostel.
The entire atmosphere is super cosy and comfortable. The owner, Hiro, made tasty breakfast every morning for a very affordable price and it was a perfect way to start the day. The hostel offers excellent experience for a small budget. Hiro, speaks English very well and is a great conversation partner.
This was the best Hostel we could have stayed in. The owners are so lovely, kind and welcoming. We had a really good time also with the other guests, played cards and had great conversations. The rooms were clean and comfy. The bathrooms and toilets also absolutely clean. We could also rent bikes to explore the area. We would always come back. Rating of 10 is not enough. Absolutely perfect stay. Thank you so much.
Favourite hostel I've ever stayed at. Extremely clean, comfy and large beds and a kitchen. I hired a bike for the day which was so cheap and convenient, and after a long day cycling I came back to the warm and most cozy common area I have ever seen. The music was so cute and jazzy and it immediately felt like a hinge away from home. You can store your bags there before and after checking in/out and Hiro San the owner was so accommodating making sure that everything was fine, we were warm and happy etc.
Great location, close to train stations and a shop nearby.
The hostel is also well-equipped with most things you would need.
We were shocked by the amazing view in the next morning when we open the door, seeing Mt Fuji right there outside of the window.
The lady that welcome us was super nice, with great English. The place is simple but everything is more than what you expect from a youth hostel.
Great room size for 3 people, and very cozy.
The location is good for Fuji spotting from different places and not that far from the train station and cool neighborhood.
