It is much more than a guesthouse. It is a family stay. You will get to eat Japanese food with the owners, Wakuw and Ayano, and their three charming children. The place is in nature, not close to shops or transportation, but this is also part of the charm. If you do not have a car, it is best to discuss this with the owners. I stayed for 5 nights, used it as a base for traveling to nearby nature reserves (Kamikochi, Norikura) all within an hour’s drive, and had a great time. Meeting other travelers was also a great experience.

Extremely cosy accomodation! It's full of fun and entertaining stuff - you really at risk of spending several hours exploring the place. Location is great near the Matsumoto Castle and a stone throw to other main sights. It has everything inside you need for your stay. And it's spacious to accommodate maybe 8 or even 10 people. So if you are just 4 like we - then you live almost like in palace.

The food was amazing, superb value for money. Both the dinner and breakfast had a great variety of tasty and filling dishes.
There were not many staff, but they were all very nice, professional, and welcoming.
The room and other facilities were fairly clean but quite old.
Boardgames for rental and a small game room with a retro famicom game were fun touches but may feel outdated.
The room we stayed in that had been renovated to house bunkbeds was fun for my young son.

The facility was great! The staffs were also very friendly and helpful. The lounge area was really comfortable. There's a water machine and a microwave too which is really convenient. I would happily stay there again.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
