Fisher-gill Camping Barn, hotel in Thirlmere

Located in Thirlmere, within 11 km of Derwentwater and 26 km of Buttermere, Fisher-gill Camping Barn provides accommodation with a terrace and as well as free private parking for guests who drive.

An excellent stay helped by the snow on the hills. Host was very friendly and got the fires going each afternoon which was welcome to return to. You will not be disappointed if you check what the accommodation is- note it is a barn, fires cannot heat it so warm clothing is needed. Very comfy beds and organised with curtains for privacy.

It was clean and tidy. We had a problem with the front door which was repaired on the 2nd call out. The window in the bedroom with the bunk beds had a lock, but no limiter to stop the window opening too far and children climbing out which we reported as a safeguarding concern.

Great location right in the centre of Keswick so everything was so handy to walk to. Really friendly staff. Rooms were small but clean and fresh. Breakfast was very tasty. The whole hotel was decorated to a lovely standard so it felt super luxurious, enabling us to relax straight away and enjoy a really wonderful break in Keswick. Car park straight outside the back and they even gave me a permit at a cheaper rate for our stay which was nice.

Great location, friendly staff, nice and warm during a very cold spell. Lovely bar/cafe. It's a youth hostel, so hardly luxurious accommodation, but it was clean and comfortable and exceeded my expectations. I loved the sound of the river flowing by.
