Big and comfortable self catering area. Fully recommended.

An excellent stay helped by the snow on the hills. Host was very friendly and got the fires going each afternoon which was welcome to return to. You will not be disappointed if you check what the accommodation is- note it is a barn, fires cannot heat it so warm clothing is needed. Very comfy beds and organised with curtains for privacy.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Fabulous staff; great location and the most delicious food!
Rooms were basic, and need of a bit more love - but clean and well priced.
We stayed here when climbing Scafell Pike; a perfect location. Would definately recommend and stay again. Thank you!
- Clean, cute and cosy
- Staff all so friendly
- Food and drink was great (even a sausage for our dog at breakfast!). Great variety and catered for gluten free (and other dietary requirements)
- Great location for those hiking Scafell Pike
- Great location for the beach
The tent pods, although they look a bit drab outside, are excellent, draft free and comfortable, with two double beds. For a cheap stay, I recommend them.
Basic accommodation with self catering kitchen. Had a Youth hostel feel to the place which suited me just fine. No staff and very basic, so might not be everyone's idea of good accommodation but it functions well as low cost accommodation. Location is superb.
The location of this YHA is perfect. Plenty of walks and mountains to hike around the area. The lady on reception was very polite and helpful, made us feel welcomed from our arrival. The facilities were spot on and exceeded what we thought about a youth hostel. Plenty of room in the fridges for food to keep cool and the beds in our room were spot on too. The showers and toilets were very clean and would highly recommend, we'd definitely stay again for a couple of nights if in the area. Couldn't have asked for more for the money.
