The host Bartosz was super nice, we felt like at home. Despite the fact that the neighbourhood looked scary in the first sight, it turned out to be amazing. I would recommend to all solo travellers, students and less demanding people.

The fireflies.
Being able to use the kitchen. I wish they'd listed that on the facilities so we could have brought food to cook since the local restaurants in Samana are so expensive despite being shabby. There are no decent supermarkets anywhere nearby.
Great views and beach and woodland walks.

My first stay at a hostel was delightful. The warm welcome and the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds made it a memorable experience. The staff and Lucas were attentive right from the start ☺️. The price I paid for the night was very reasonable. I had a cozy private room with a comfortable bed. Although the bathroom was small, it was always clean, which I appreciate. The central location of the hostel, just a short walk from the beach, was perfect for me. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning to explore Las Galeras.

The hostel has a great vibe. Everyone ends up one big family thanks to the amazing hosts. It is well located and allows you to easily walk to most places you need.
La Hacienda Hostel is located on the government eco-tourism route in Las Galeras countryside, next to Cabo Samana National Park and 700 metres from the beach.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
I had an excellent stay at this hostel, everyone who works there is friendly, there's breakfast which for me is a plus, the place is cozy and clean, close to the Malecón to take the guaguas and it’s walking distance from the beach, the pier where the tours leave to the haitises and Cayo levantado and Caribe tour where you take the bus to Santo Domingo. They also have pets, three dogs and a kitty cat.
We liked our stay here, great location, a nice breakfast with view, and nice helpful people. Easy to walk to the harbour for whale watching. Would stay here again!
The only positive aspects are: location, breakfast offered by the owner (it was good, and that was kind from him, I appreciate it), availability of ingredients for free in the kitchen, the guests I met at my arrival, the hostal's cute dog (following us when leaving the hostel).
Super nice guesthouse, it's perfectly located to move around the Samana Area and do day trips. Also the Caribe tours bus stop (to go to Santo Domingo or other places) is 10 minutes from the hostel. The rooms are private and pretty nice. Dodley is an excellent host, always helpful and smiling. Definitely the best place in Dominican Republic.
-Really nice and helpful staff
-The location was quiet and safe, the view from the terrace was amazing
-The apartment was clean
-free parking, jacuzzi and breakfast
The location was near to the Malecón and felt safe. We walked to most locations.
There was access to Netflix and bikes if you wanted to use them. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. There were only two of us, but the house could accommodate a family comfortably.
Very friendly, helpful, uncomplicated hosts, who care touchingly, received the apartment instead of the booked single room due to renovation. For the cheap price you get clean, simple accommodation, with a good bed, decent toilet and a romantic terrace. Recommended for everyone who travels on a small budget and can do wit little comfort.
