Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Yi's Hostel is a beautiful little hostel in the old town, walking distance from all the centre's sights. The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to help us and make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Would definitely recommend!
The place is just amazing: not only the location is super central and convenient but the room was cozy and nice and most especially the hospitality was the best. We could learn more about the town of Shangrila and its authentic culture through the eyes of the owner who was genuine and helpful in every step of our journey. The hostel offers a restaurant service and the food tasted absolutely amazing, you must try it. Overall it was the best experience and if you are visiting Shangrila there isn’t a better place to stay than Yi’s hostel!
Location is the strongest point. Also the Yi brothers - helpful. The hostel also has daily or regular trips so it was just a matter of signing up the day before (do your homework first). I could not have gone to Balagazong Gorge, a most beautiful place (stunning, 4,100m top, comparable or even more stunning as Grand Canyon), if not for its readily available tours.
This hostel run by family ,host is very friendly and helpful he can speak english very well and all others his brothers and sisters sister in law can speak English too. It’s good for foreigners . Hostel has their own restaurant serving all day food and good coffee .Location just a few walk to entrance stairs to Dafo temple. In front of the hostel has a lots of Tibetan dressing shop with a fair price included dress + hair dress+make up.It’s quite good place for stay in Shangri-la.
A very cute hostel, clean, welcoming people and very helpful host. She gave me useful tips and helped me books some hike tours. Breakfast and lunch were also super nice. It was my best hostel experience in China, I highly recommend it.
Best hosts ever. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Comfortable beds and a warm cosy feeling to the entire Hostel, especially the common area.
Eat a dinner here, you won't regret it
This place is the best hostel we've had in China (and maybe Asia). The living room is very cosy, very suitable for taking a warm tea after a good hike, meeting other people from the hostel, or eating delicious food (chineese, corean and western dishes are available). The owner is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and cosy.
The hostel itself is really pretty. It's an old Tibetan house with a nice courtyard and a balcony on the first floor.
They serve excellent food all day. Try the Tibetan porridge or the yak meat burger.
Honestly one of the best hostels I've stayed in in Yunnan.
