A stay at a hostel can be intimidating, and oftentimes, you don't know what you are getting. ... except with this family.
The home: It's a five story building, at the end of a quiet alley, only used by the families that live in that area. We are in our 60s and have traveled over 9 years, worldwide, used many hostels, this is more like a "Pensario", you quickly get used to the stairs. The building has many restaurants in the area, and if you prefer cooking your meals, the kitchen is equipped with 2 instapots and all the utensils you will need.

A balcony enclosed bathroom with a portable shower head, the best if all you need is a quick post beach rinse. It also has a toilet. A more private bathroom.

Family: Mona, sister and family, run this hostel together, or I should say, takes care of us.
From the moment you meet them, you feel like you're home. There are too many little details that meant so much to us. We extended our stay 2 extra days, so we had about 7 days, which is more than the norm for hostels. This Albanian family treats everyone with kindness and welcoming gestures. They check in on all their guests to make sure their needs are met.

It's a little cramped if too many people come with huge suitcases.
This is not a party hostel. There are so many cafes and clubs around there is no need.
Everyone who stayed while we were there was incredibly respectful of sleeping co habiting friends. Some people stay out late and sleep in. We all kind of vacate and head out into town to take boat tours, hang out at the beach, or do tours. Meanwhile, the residence gets cleaned.
I will miss this family and hope to see them again.

First of all I really liked the manager, it is a really nice and helpful guy. The hostel was clean and it has an excellent placement. It was a great experience and I would come back without hesitation next year.

Nice hotel, excellent service, in a great location (away from the city noise and pollution). Loved waking up to the sea view every morning and enjoying my expresso. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. Staff Inc cleaners very trustworthy. I never used the safe for any valuable items inc all my hol money I had with me and nothing ever went missing.

Great location in the beach town of Sarande Central to everything you need 5 minute walk to the sea bus stops and food stalls. The hostel seems quite new and is kept clean. Dorms have air/con. A self service breakfast starts the day off. Really enjoyed my stay.
I loved the space, one of the best hostel I’ve stayed in my life. The rooms are really comfortable, good lighting, AC and very clean. The common areas are amazing, you have a lot of space, a nice kitchen, a movie theater and lots of space to socialize.
It was the cheapest option in Saranda but also very convenient one. The location of the hostel is very good. The bed was comfortable and it was very clean. The owner of a hostel is very friendly, funny and helpful. I dont think there is any better option in saranda if u want to travel a lot and not to spend too many time in the hostel. 100% recommend.
Very friendly staff, large comfortable beds with curtains which allows more privacy in dormitory rooms, solid construction of the whole hostel, you can see that this is not a building converted at the cheapest cost to accommodate tourists, and the construction thought out from the beginning for this purpose.
Saranda is an amazing place to explore and experience and without a doubt Mona Hostel felt like the perfect choice of accommodation in this beautiful city! The family which runs the hostel is absolutely lovely - always willing to help and generally very hospitable by nature. The hostel has a great location, strong wifi, fantastic view not to mention being safe and spacious.
