Romey is an absolute legend he is one of the best hosts we have had, he made us feel right at home and feel like guests at the same time. Highly highly recommend this spot to anyone wanting a fun getaway in a not so busy part of Japan, really makes it all worth it!

ペンション桜家 features air-conditioned guest accommodation in Shimoda, 600 metres from Shirahama Ohama Beach, 1.7 km from Shirahama Chuo Beach and 3 km from Sotoura Beach. The owner is incredibly friendly. The view is stunning. We enjoyed a bath each night in the bathhouse. A short walk to an incredible beach.

Guesthouse Papaya features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Shimoda, 400 metres from Irita Beach. I had an amazing stay in Shimoda! The place was wonderfully authentic, with a charming atmosphere that felt uniquely local. The beach was just a short walk away, and there was a nearby restaurant serving excellent food—definitely a highlight of my trip. The landlord was incredibly kind and accommodating, even driving me to the train station after my stay. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a relaxing and genuine experience.

In the Shuzenji Onsen district of Izu, close to Shuzen-ji Temple, Hostel Knot has a shared lounge and a washing machine. Cleanest hostel I’ve ever been in, convenient location, and reasonably priced. But what really blew me away was the service. Hey-san was incredibly helpful with recommendations and reservations nearby. He even helped with our laundry while we were out and about. Our whole group loved staying here.

Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, JOYinn is located in Izu Kogen. There is a free shuttle pick-up and drop-off service available for guests from Izu-Kogen Station. This was beyond expectation, the owner speaks perfect English and picked us up at the station, we were greeted by two lovely dogs in the house and enjoyed fantastic sea view from our room! Will def come back if we’re visiting Ito again!

Guest House Tokiwa offers dorm beds and affordable Japanese-style private rooms, free WiFi, a shared lounge and a shared kitchen. Located in Fujinomiya City, the closest town to Mt. Daisuke San and Daruma the CEO were wonderful hosts! All of the staff was very helpful and gave us so many suggestions for where to go and how to get there. The location was very close to the train, and the home itself was spacious and clean.

Featuring a spa bath, J-Garden is located in Ito. Each accommodation at the 2-star guest house has inner courtyard views, and guests can enjoy access to a hot spring bath. Amazing location on Jogasaki coast and still not that far from the station. The room was bigger than expected (separate living and sleeping room) and we didn't miss anything. The owners were so nice; the property was built by the husband after he looked into many of Gaudi's work and you can feel the catalanese touch in everything he crafted. The natural hot spring was superb as well as the "dragon" jacuzzi. Enjoying the sunset from the top terrace came only second to watching the stars at night.

Situated just a 2-minute walk from Shirahama Beach in Shimoda, Beach Side Inn Shirahama is cosy friendly accommodation with warm wooden flooring and furnishings. Very close to the beach, simple but very testy breakfast. Great place for surfing, you can rent a boat here. Great nice onsen.

Situated in Izu, within 12 km of Shuzen-ji Temple and 20 km of Mount Daruma, Pension Amagiji features accommodation with a terrace and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Very nice place. I came by bicycle from Tokyo, and owner kindly allowed to store it inside by the counter. Overall place is very clean, NO insects were spotted inside at all. And let not the absence of toilet/shower in the room turn you away - there is a wash basin inside the room, with dryer and all things needed; and plenty of toilets just near your room, everything very clean and equipped with latest tech washlet toilets. And the best part: private hot spring (onsen), where you could chill alone. And price for a stay was very affordable. Top rating from me.
