What an incredible place to have stay. We feel so lucky to have met the hosts and been able to stay in this amazing home. Staying here is just an incredible experience, the home is stunning and fun to explore, the views are great and the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our only wish is that we had stayed even longer.

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Himawari is situated in Minami Aso, 36 km from Suizenji Park and 39 km from Kumamoto Castle. The owner was so welcoming. Facility was well decorated and super clean. We got upgraded to a better room, which had view of Mt Aso. Bed was comfortable. Hotel looks better than the photos.

阿蘇び心 Asobi Gokoro, a property with a garden, is set in Aso, 41 km from Kumamoto Castle, 41 km from Suizenji Park, as well as 41 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei. Excellent and friendly host with fantastic recommendations for local food and activities. Quiet and tranquil location.

Wakka has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Minami Aso, 31 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto. The room literally has everything you need. Private scenic view from the bath and the room. Very peaceful countryside. Had a really good sleep. The host was friendly and welcoming.

Located 1.8 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, Minshuku Hiroshimaya offers 2-star accommodation in Kumamoto and features a terrace. The hosts were exceptionally kind. I mentioned I planned on hiking near Mt Aso and they prepared a lunch for me two days in a row. They upgraded my room as I was the only person staying there, drove me to the store and the station when I didn't have a car, and did everything to make me feel welcome. The location was incredible and quiet, with stunning views of Kumamoto and a beautiful guesthouse. I can't thank them enough for their kindness!

Located in Kumamoto, Dyeing and Hostel Nakashimaya - Female Only provides 1-star accommodation with private terraces. Guests staying at this guest house have access to a balcony. I was using the SunQ bus pass, and this hostel was about a 7 min walk from the bus terminal. I arrived before check-in and was able to drop off my luggage so I could sightsee. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. The hostel is beautifully decorated and very clean. The goldfish in the entryway are stunning. I had a private room with plenty of space for my luggage and futon. The room has an AC/ heater unit and a small table, too. There are bathrooms downstairs and upstairs, and the shower is spacious and clean. I used the upstairs lounge room to relax and chat with another hostel guest. There are A LOT of manga there, but I didn't have a chance to read any. I briefly went to the roof in the rain to see the castle lit up. I didn't have a chance to do laundry or use the kitchen, but everything was neat and easily accessible. I had to leave very early the next morning, and self checkout was easy. I felt at home and very safe staying here, and I can't wait to visit again. The pictures are of the goldfish in the entrance and some sakura on the walk to the bus station.

A wonderful house in the countryside. The scenery around was absolutely beautiful, and there’s an onsen near by to go relax in the evening. The hosts were amazingly kind. We enjoyed our stay there very much

Located within 44 km of Mount Aso and 50 km of Lake Ezu, omusubi guest house (JAPANESE STYLE） features rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Mamihara. A perfect stay. Everything about the place is wonderful, especially the owner who is a truly lovely kind-hearted soul; you can tell that she has filled the place with love and care. I would love to return some day, two nights was not nearly long enough...
