Set in Sheffield and only 8.2 km from Utilita Arena Sheffield, Coniston Guest House offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. This family run guest house helped us feel at home when we most needed to feel comfortable. No one likes getting sick while on vacation, but our son managed to catch a very bad bug and needed medical attention. That's when Deborah, the host, helped us. She gave us information about British system, and was flexible about some of the breakfast issues (son wouldn't eat, etc). She's very gracious! As for the property, our room was spacious, with two sitting chairs overlooking the streets below. Our room (a triple) had a fridge ) Because we had to stay in, it turned out to be a great place to relax while my son slept (unlike some cramped rooms). If weather is nasty, I can imagine people wanted to stay in, have tea, and read. Overall, it's great to see that local, family guest houses still exist. And ones like this one, managed by Deborah, are a wonderful place to stay.

Featuring garden views, Beautiful quiet room in the heart of Holmfirth features accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 23 km from Victoria Theatre. The location was fantastic for town and walks, quirky under house historical building, nice view over converted mill in the valley. Lovely room, with a fantastic bathroom and use of the other facilities if you want (living room and kitchen). Stacey the host was very welcoming and informative and we had a brilliant stay, would definitely recommend.

Situated just 10 km from Alton Towers, Higherlands provides accommodation in Kingsley with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as bicycle parking. Juile was an amazing host, made you feel at home, and couldn't help you enough! :) The house and room were spotless and fabulous. Gorgeous free standing bath in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, and even linen was top quality. My partner didn't feel well the day we were due to check out, and she allowed us to stay later for him to rest until we headed to the airport. A lady! 10/10 highly recommend. Great location for Alton towers and a lovely country escape.
