Jesus and his family were very kind. The hut was cosy. The location is amazing for Lagunas Llanganuco and 69, very close to the entrance of the national park. Jesus can arrange transport for you (costs around 130 soles return to the Laguna 69 hike). Cute llama and other animals.
We spent five nights there acclimatising and doing the lake hikes, it was a very nice place to relax.
Be aware that it's around 40 minutes bumpy road from Yungay and there's no ATM or supermarket so bring food and be ready to pay for the accommodation in cash.
Two or three restaurant options nearby but they're not really open in the evenings.
With mountain views, Casa Hospedaje"Los Capulies" is set in Carhuaz and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I was bitten by a dog one evening and the owner offered to drive me to the hospital that night (didn't end up doing that), but then he brought me to the local clinic in the morning and helped explain what happened since we didnt have much Spanish. Extremely grateful for that!
Otherwise the place itself was nice too - comfy beds and a spacious room. Breakfast was decent in the morning too. They also allowed us to make a couple.of sandwiches in the evening to bring with us on a tour the following day since we were leaving very early.

We really felt at home at Dina's and Lorenzo's place. They did everything to make us feel comfortable and welcome, gave us enormous information about what to do in the surroundings (hikes, thermal baths, organizational stuff too) and were present when we had questions avout anything. The rooms were very clean, the kitchen very well equipped and the view from the terrace towards the mountains around Caraz stunning.
The local market (great) is only 10 min by feet, though, in case of some forgotten needs, there are three bodegas within 2-3 min distance.
Yoly's House is a recently renovated homestay in Caraz, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge. With garden views, this accommodation features a patio.
