Really welcoming hosts, excellent food, some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. It's a homestay which is really comfortable, you are immersed in nature. Close to Horton Plains National park and the hosts have parking if you have your own transport or are happy to organise transport to the park. The drive is beautiful.

Mahamed and Fatima are the most wonderful hosts, and there is no doubt they enjoy having guests, and want their guests to be as comfortable as possible. They made our stay truly memorable, and I wish we had time to stay longer. I will for sure be back, this place comes highly recommended from me! Surroundings are gorgeous, hiking on every corner, it's quiet and calm, and you will eat like a queen with Fatima's food (she should have a restaurant). I haven't eaten that well in all of Sri Lanka, and it's been my most pleasant stay. If you are into nature, mental relaxation, great food, and slowing down a bit, do make sure to book at least two/three nights with them, and just enjoy!

A really lovely location. The room was great, it had everything you'd need. There was a games room in the loft conversion with a pool table which was fun. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful in arranging tours and transport. Also amazing food! Highly recommend!

Location is quite convinient between centre and Gregory Lake. Maybe the nicest restaurant in town, Themparadu, is right next to the hotel.
Extremely nice and helpful staff in reception. Breakfast was good, could choose between sri lankan and english breakfast.

The best hotel we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka so far! The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and newly renovated. The breakfast is decent, and the hotel offers great value for money. The owners are incredibly attentive and friendly.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
It was a real pleasure to stay at Forest Cyniciam Homestay, Mahinda & Muthu are adorable and easy-going, communication was easy, the place is very quiet with a very nice view from the garden. The room was pleasant and clean, and the hosts serve delicious sri lankan meals! This stay was my best in Sri Lanka, thank you so much
Amazing homestay, very nice and helpful family. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location is very close to the Horton Plains, family helped us arrange a tuktuk at 6:30 am to get there. They also cooked us two delicious dinners and even helped to take care of my boyfriend’s sprained ankle.
What a warm and friendly welcome we had at this lovely home stay. It really did feel like being welcomed in to a family home. Nothing was too much trouble as they were both incredibly kind and thoughtful hosts. The meals ( dinner and breakfast) were delicious. The rooms were cosy and warm at night despite being do high up in the mountains. A very convenient location for exploring the Horton Plains. Lovely to meet the cats and to see the flowers in the garden.
It is the Best place in Ohiya for sure! The place is run with much devotion and love and you can feel that all along.
Its so clean and neat and the family who runs it is adorable.
They are just lovely people, open, helpfull, generous.
And then there is the food: it was by far the best homestay cooking we experienced throughout our whole trip.
Go there and find out for yourself, you woun't regret it, promise!
....and Horton Plains was a beautiful hike and really worth it, too by the way :)
Wonderful hosts
Fabulous, plentiful food
Very clean
Very comfortable bed and extra blankets given when cold
Very relaxed
Please note that Dialog signal only and no internet in homestay
Homestay with super friendly owners and staff. They helped us out with everything from arranging tuc-tucs, advising on hikes, packing lunchboxes,.. and the homecooked food was great too!
For me, the outstanding home stay experience of my time in Sri Lanka. Very nice and helpful family, helped with transport and meals. Peaceful hillside forest location, close to the Ohiya Station hamlet. Tea and biscuits on the terrace. Horton Plains visit.
The family who runs the homestay is the friendliest there can be. They helped us with tips from the tuk tuk to making plans for Hortons Plains. They prepared us a breakfast package so we could go very early to Hortons Plains. They prepared a lovely dinner which was very tasty(we had fried rice with vegetable side). We were grateful to find such a nice family in Sri Lanka
