I am beyond happy to have had the chance to visit this place. I spent three amazing days at your hotel with such a beautiful view of the elephants. Waking up in the morning to see them, hear their deep sounds, and watch them roam freely in the field was an unforgettable experience. It’s a wonderful opportunity to observe wildlife while enjoying the comfort of your hotel.
The terrace is fantastic, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and everything is so cozy, clean, and beautifully designed. The hotel smells amazing, and it has everything you need for a perfect stay.
My deepest gratitude goes to Roshan and his family for their incredible hospitality and for helping with the excursions. I am truly thankful for these wonderful three days. I was so happy to meet everyone involved in running this hotel and to get to know the culture of Penawawa.
I’m already recommending this place to my friends, and many of them are eager to visit and experience the same emotions. I will definitely be back and would love to spend more time in this magical place!

Negatives: facilities:
Difficult to initially get hold of owner. Flat screen tv not working, no toiletries (except small bar of soap), no hairdryer, no Wifi: had to request: easily resolved. Electricity/power cut, no generator back up. Noisy wobbly ceiling fan.
A/c didn’t switch off: too cold all night (battery of remote control flat?)
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Peaceful, peaceful. Only birds and water sounds. Mesmerising view. Great place to relax and decompress. Lovely host who is very passionate about his organic farm. Large meal portions but you need to ask for spicy if you don't want tourist level flavour.
This was a unique and amazing property high in the jungle. The natural water swimming pool was the best pool of the trip-it did have frogs but that added to the experience. It was an infinity pool that overlooked the jungle. The food was also first class. Dinner was made by locals in an outdoor kitchen. We had seven different dishes with a lot of the food from the gardens of the property. The host was very friendly.
This place is pure magic with that real Sri Lankan vibe and amazing food. We were totally into the atmosphere and the hikes to the temple, village hangouts, and checking out the mountain life with the locals. It's a real-deal experience, and we loved every minute of it. If you're up for something different and off the beaten track, this is the spot!
The food is top-notch, and the staff is incredibly helpful. You just feel so welcomed and taken care of. I loved the grilled lake fish with jack fruit seeds.
