The best hosts we could ask for! So helpful and friendly and make you feel at home from the moment you get there. The beds are so comfy which is rare when traveling Asia on a budget. Quite peaceful, as a little away from the main part of Berastagin (be prepared to walk a little, or use transportation) and great staff who are very helpful and friendly.

We stayed for two nights - big bedroom, two king size beds, one single bed, everything very clean.
Self-made breakfast and dinner by Cecilia was amazing, traditional food, fresh fruits and whole grain bread - we loved it.
Smiley and Cecilia spoke English very well, we learnt a lot about the culture and living. We especially enjoyed the two tours we did with Smiley - Volcano Sibayak at sunrise and Batak village and market.
Smiley's Homestay in Berastagi was definitely one of our Sumatra highlights.
The views from the hotel room....lovely.. I waited for sunrise on the two mornings that I was there. It's a homestay ...hence, the owner kept us well informed. We had lovely cooked dinners and breakfasts.
We only had one night in Berastagi and Keasa Hoemstay was the perfect place for us. The host family was super friendly and helped us with organising a hike plus transport to our next destination. The room was very clean and had hot water, which isn't always a given in Sumatra. Food was great too, so we would definitely come again!

this is a fantastic Homestay. the room is so comfortable. nice hot shower, comfortable bed, big fluffy pillows and soft new linen.
The host family are incredible people. They make this place so special. They are so kind and helpful. They organised my sunrise volcano hike, a tour of the ghost town, and my (very) early morning car to the airport. They are excited to share everything they know about Berastagi, and their hospitality is 5 star. Also - they made me a vegan banana pancake and it was amazing!
