We were welcomed by the family and really felt at ease there. The view to the surroundings from the balcony and the upper room are absolutely stunning. It is a good place to start discovering the Santa Elena surroundings. The family was very helpfull to book activities and recommend good places to visit. Selvatura ziplining and the guided nightwalk were highlights of our stay there. They also recommended some nice places to go for dinner with the family.

We've been travelling South and Central America for 3 months and this was the best service by far!
The staff were exceptionally helpful and continually went above and beyond to help us with recommendations and organising shuttles etc. You could tell they weren't simply trying to sell tours (like other hostels) but to genuinely advise you and factor in budget considerations.
They also helpfully flexed times for breakfast so we could eat before getting our shuttle on check out day and were generally friendly and welcoming from start to finish.
The room and facilities were really clean and well equipped. The location is great too, a very short two minutes walk into the centre with all the restaurants and supermarkets.
Los Tucanes Lodging is located in El Castillo de La Fortuna, Costa Rica and offers free WiFi access. Arenal Ecozoo is located just 19 metres away.

The couple that ran the place were very kind and were able to accommodate us at the last minute when our camping plans changed quickly during an intense storm. The view early in the morning from the breakfast area was incredible. It was still pretty cloudy from the storm the previous night, so I can only imagine how beautiful it would be had we been there on a clear day. The hotel is located about 200m away from La Ventanita, a super cute restaurant with great food that also has spectacular views.

I travel a lot and spend a long time away from home, so cleanliness, comfort, and beauty around me are very important.
I found all of this at La Tigra Mountain House. The beds are wide, the mattresses are comfortable. The hostess of the house is very attentive and caring. And I would like to highlight the view separately. It's fantastic!!! The Platanar and Porvenir volcanoes are visible as if in the palm of your hand. Sunrises, clouds running at eye level, and hovering birds attract and compel you to stop and enjoy life. In the morning, I tried to exercise, but it smoothly transitioned into meditation... As they say, it's better to see once than hear a hundred times!! Come and see for yourself.

Lovely host gave great advice on the area and was at our beck and call (even got us breakfast to go for our early bus), fresh breakfast with a beautiful jungle view, beautiful spacious room with all we needed to cook ourselves if we wished, short 3 minute walk to main town area.
Great hostel. The room was comfortable and clean, the kitchen had everything necessary to cook properly, easy to park as well. Bonus: the sloth and tucan in the nearby garden
David was really friendly and helpful in giving suggestions. We especially loved the outdoor space of this place, with the hammocks, chairs, and tables that made it so relaxing to just hang around and be in nature. The pets were so cute and friendly, and made this place feel like a homestay! I extended my stay because I liked it so much. I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I were to visit Monteverde again.
This is a true home stay as the hosts property is small and you will share the common spaces with the family. The hosts were great but the small space may feel a bit claustrophobic to the privacy conscious.
Great location close to two reserves and places to have breakfast. Very spacious with a great washer drier. Dawn chorus was fantastic. Lovely host who couldn't have been more helpful.
