The host put in the extra effort to make sure we were comfortable and went out of her way to get us additional kids-safe mosquito repellent

Set in Shimoda, 35 km from Kumamoto Castle and 36 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 南あその丘 offers air conditioning. The location of the house with such beautiful scenery was the highlight. We utilized the BBQ on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed and it was quite nice to have. The view while grilling of the volcano was really nice. The home was clean and the kitchen and dining area was quite large. There is a washing machine that also dries the clothes which made it nice to not have to pack so much. The tub was quite sophisticated where you can set the temperature and it would automatically fill. It is good to note that the home is located in the geo park so there are no grocery stores nearby so it is good to get your BBQ supplies and food before arriving to the home.

Situated in Kami Amakusa and only 49 km from Kumamoto Station, L'isola THE BIRD features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. The staff were fantastic. We could stroll along the sea just outside the room. The beautiful sunset was a bonus.
