The house is wonderful, spacious, luxury and quiet. Bassam is a great host and the staff are excellent too. We had a great time exploring from here or just enjoying doing nothing much at all. It is a bit outside Shela, but not that far and a nice village walk.

The staff and manager of the house so helpful. Lots of advice and recommendations where to eat.

Incredible space with even better people. First, even before we arrived, communication with the host (Tarik) was impeccable. We always felt we were in good hands and that rang true from the moment we arrived especially with the housekeeper Farid who was absolutely excellent and was on top of every need we might have. I should take a moment also to say that the space itself is STUNNING. Absolutely gorgeous with many, many beautiful details. Truly a hidden gem of Lamu.

Beautiful well appointed home in the heart of Lamu. The bed was comfortable with fans and mosquito nets. The kitchen was well equipped with pots/pans and appliances.
Great for families or large parties, vacation homes are privately owned accommodations, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities, though breakfast might be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different than apartments.
Spacious and beautifully decorated Swahili house. We got upgraded on our arrival and had the huge upstairs room with the biggest bed we’ve ever seen! The balcony and rooftop lounge area were great for relaxing with incredible views. Very clean rooms. Nice breakfast including traditional Swahili foods as an option. The manager Joseph was outstanding - he went out of his way to show us around, finding various places and helping us organise our day. Huge thanks to Joseph for making our stay so enjoyable!
Shiban house is a great place to stay in Shela. Biggest, most comfortable beds you’ll ever see in a very clean house.
Rooms and common areas are very spacious and there’s a great atmosphere to the place.
what stands out in Shiban house though are the hosts. Jozef does an amazing job at making you feel at home and helping you around, with an everlasting smile and lightheartedness.
100% recommend staying here.
The owner of the house and the staff are amazing. I felt home! They were very very supportive with everything I needed. The house has very good vibes. Breakfast is super complete and both common areas and the room are very clean. I highly recommend Shiban House!
The breakfast was great all you have to do is tell the chef what to prepare. There are a few things not available in Lamu like bacon or pork sausages, you can bring them from the main land. Tip: Send an exact shopping list on quantity otherwise there is a lot of wastage.
Loved the bonfire very today. The staff were friendly and the place very clean. It was a very unique experience felt like we were living in a tree house. All in all I would book Kisura house again.
Lovely spot in Shela, close to the gorgeous sand dunes and pristine Manda and Shela beaches. Very clean and best of all the hosts were amazing, helped us plan dhow rides excursions and generally very helpful and hospitable. Oh, breakfast, yum!
