One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in 45 years of travel. Artistic and funky but also warm, friendly and totally unpretentious. The hotel is an old style property, airy and light with big windows and views to the Pico volcano. It is like a gem of an oasis amidst more recent development on the edge of town, but is only ten mins walk down to the big square and port. Breakfast in the spacious dining room is exceptional and the ladies who run the hotel are charming and helpful. We had the extra benefit and unexpected bonus of the Suite, which was like having your own flat with a terrace! There are some trendy restaurant options down the hill with good food - but rather pricey wine, but we found a couple of traditional older places (Medalhas & Lima) that we liked. For whale-watching, Naturalist are a good science-based outfit and if you are short of time or transport they do an excellent half day island tour too - very informative and not touristy. You can do both in one day!

The room was cute and very comfortable, the owners Elena and Jerry were very nice and helpful. All the facilities were clean and well maintained including the well equipped shared kitchen. We also loved the whale decor and the view of the harbour! The location is also very nice, just in the heart of the town. Overall the stay was very pleasant and good value. Highly recommend!

Very clean sweet renovated home. Everything we needed was there. The bedroom was small with private bathroom and air conditioning , it met our needs . There is the option to sit outside and the shared space is very inviting . It feels like home . I would definitely come back again !

We stayed in the seperate house which seemed to be quite new. The Apartment was very well equipped and spacious. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The location is calm and silent. we would definitely recommend to go there :)
