Located in Hikone, 1.7 km from Hikone Castle, GUEST HOUSE NAGORIYA provides accommodation with a bar and free private parking. I cannot recommend this guest house enough! The owner is so kind, helpful and speaks decent English. The location is too far for walking but if you take the number 22 bus from stand 1 outside the station, you can shorten the walk to 5 minutes. Very comfortable bed, good AC, plenty of space for luggage and relaxing. Useful kitchen, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, cutlery, mugs, plates etc. It's in a quiet area. The lake is a short walk away. Hikone Castle isn't far either. The one toilet and shower on the first floor did not bother me. I loved this guest house!

Authentic Japanese with comfortable beds. Amazing little garden. Very useful to have bikes and to use it for the supermarket or to go omihachiman. It is bigger than it looks in pictures. It has 4 separate rooms and a big kitchen.

I liked the spacious room for the two of us, the veranda, the beautiful temple which we were introduced to. The morning chanting and bell ringing was a really profound start to the day, and all offered in the most low key way. Really loved this Amida temple. 🌞 ☔ It was great to be told about the super sento 10 minutes walk away. 💦 Thanks so much for your generosity with lifts and other help. 🌻

Set in Nagahama, the recently renovated 1日1組限定 1棟貸切の古民家 蔵の宿 隠れ蔵 offers accommodation 24 km from Kehi Jingu Shrine and 36 km from Green Park Santo. We had a great stay in this traditional little house ! Everything is clean, the kitchen is very well equipped, we loved the bathroom with a view of the surrounding fields and mountains. The family is lovely and has a great sense of hospitality. We will come back !

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Guesthouse Shin is located in Omihachiman, 38 km from Sanzen-in Temple and 39 km from Mount Hiei. The location was quiet, in the middle of a residential area so it was very quiet at all times, there was a convenience store about 10mins walk away. The guesthouse was very spacious with a living room, dining room and sitting room on the main floor. There were 2 bathrooms and 2 showers and all very clean!

It’s a traditional Japanese cabin in the mountains. The shoji screens and the zen garden made it a really relaxing and cozy visit. One of my favorite accommodations through my journey in Japan. They have WiFi, and a modern toilet. The kitchen is a bit old and not up to modern standards but it works just fine. If you want a place away from the bustling cities, and really want to relax and also get a feel for an authentic Japanese cabin I can highly recommend it. Word of advice is to get food before you arrive as it is far from any stores, but I was informed of this before arrival so I had time to plan. The hostess was super friendly and very helpful It’s an old cabin and it shows, don’t expect a newly renovated house, but it gave it an authentic feeling. There’s also no AC, but with it being in the mountains and the shoji screens it didn’t get too hot at night. Also the insects make a lot of noise Wish I stayed more than one night
