And you can get amazing home-cooked meals too! If you want to go out of the beaten path and explore the rural side of Japan, this is absolutely the best place!

The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. Just stayed at this ryokan and honestly had the best experience! The ryokan is owned by a hospitable couple that speaks English perfectly, of which one is a former photographer and the other is a former chef. The latter can be enjoyed to the fullest as they offer dinner and breakfast. I enjoyed the food so much, that I dare say it is one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan. They use ingredients from their own field in the backyard, which made them fresh and with a lot of flavor. The countryside is also the view for most of the rooms with big windows to enjoy the morning sun. They were also flexible and made me breakfast even though I had to leave really early. I think it is clear that I recommend this ryokan and would love to come back.

The property is non-smoking and is set 32 km from Kitakata Station. The hotel is a very cosy, clean and charming place with lots of characters. The host, Mr Gorilla-San, and his wife made us feel very welcome. He is a great chef himself, and we enjoyed the tasty 5-course dinner very much. The breakfast served in the morning was equally good in presentation and taste. The hotel is well placed for hikers and skiers to explore the nearby mountains and ski resorts. Would love to stay there again in the near future.

The location is very nice in downtown Fukushima near many restaurants and hikes. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the heated blankets on the beds were greatly appreciated.

I checked in late (10pm) and checked out early (4.30am) and they had no problem with it.
