Everything! From Eloisa meeting us with her electric car to transport our luggage to the house (which she hoisted our 50# suitcase with no problem!!) to her sweet, kind and caring demeanor. She even brought us warm soup for dinner the night we arrived! The character of the ‘Old House’ can’t really even be described and must be experienced. But if I was to use just one word it would be - magical!! Our day to go to the castle was misty and rainy - which was awesome really and added to the mystical atmosphere of this unique town. Sadly, we had a very short stay, but hope to return one day…

Everything including the bathroom was extremely clean. Comfortable beds, beautiful yard and a very nice host named Paula.
The breakfast was very good: scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, toast, bread, jam, some pastries and fresh orange juice with coffee.

The place is very clean and comfortable. The staff is amazingly hospitable and kind. I had experienced an incident while traveling that left me without usable clothing (a bottle busted inside my bag), they were very though while getting me situated and on the second or third time of answering if I needed anything I said "actually, would you happen to know anywhere I could get any kind of shirt before 8AM?(it was already close to 22h) They were so helpful! They asked me what I preferred, I told them I really didn't care anything not completely covered gunk would be appreciated. About half an hour later the front desk lady showed up with a whole bag of clothes for me and insisted that they were free. It had shirts and pants. It was really a blessing as I now had clothes to last most of my stay. And after a good night sleep and barley making it to my early appointment the next day after rushing out of there first thing in the morning. My phone phone rang, it was the Meimoa Gesthouse and I was now completely embarrassed to find out I had left my passport on the bed. Oh man! I hadn't even noticed. I was now a couple of towns over where I would be staying and would have to taxi back there to get it somehow when I could find a lull in my sort of full schedule. No worries they found out where I was and assured me that they would drop it off to me. Which they promptly did and after a day of running all around Penamacor, Salvador and the surrounding areas my new hotel informed me that they had my Passport. I tried to ask if I could send them a tip something for all the trouble I had been. They flatly declined and said it was not needed, it was no trouble. If I'm ever looking to stay in the area again it will be at the Guesthouse!
Thank. You🙏😁

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Wow this was a unique stay . Amazing guest house and an amazing experience . The breakfast on the verandah overlooking valley by our host was special .
Wonderful to stay in Monsanto and really take time to experience the town. Wonderful host that despite speaking little English was very helpful in booking us dinner, making us a beautiful breakfast and transported our bags up and down the hill in her little car. It would NOT be possible to stay in Monsanto without this help it’s just too hilly! Comfy bed, spacious apartment very dark and quiet at night. Easy access to walk to castle first thing in morning. Beautiful views in town
Amazing little stone casa/suite decorated with taste and thought in every "touch", incredibly comfy bed with lovely linens, peaceful & idyllic setting (very quiet and away from it all 🙏), delicious breakfast, picking our own oranges (and the tastiest we've ever had), the fountain with mountain spring water for drinking, the Old Roman Road / path to the unbelievable village of Monsanto, and lovely hosts. Many thanks to Ingrid & her husband for making us feel so welcome and comfortable. 😊

The hosts took us in last minute after we left another unsuitable property.
They were both so friendly and welcoming you really felt like you were staying with friends.
Would highly recommend.
Lovely room in a rural location. Peaceful and quiet.
Great location at the heart of a historic town. Quaint little house, decorated with great taste and with all amenities. Excellent for a family or group of friends. In the heart of Monsanto, an absolutely unique village! Host went out of her way to accommodate us (we were late).
