Gorgeous private hot springs. Perfect luxury after a long day trekking. The walk over the pass to Hongu is a short hour to an amazing breakfast or lunch. I’ve stayed at hostels all over the world and this is my favorite.

This was my favorite accommodation during my 3 week trip to Japan. The owners were the most hospitable and warm people that I encountered, and that is saying something for such a welcoming country like Japan. I have always been a fan of Japanese culture and have watched many movies and TV shows where characters stay in minshuku, and staying here felt like exactly as I imagined. Super cozy, impeccably clean, the room was a perfect size for two people, fantastic views of the river from our window, and the beds were comfortable. There are two private baths which was amazing, but my favorite part was the outdoor bath by the river. It was the highlight of my trip, sitting in the 40 degree (celcius) water, looking at the mountains each morning and evening. It is literally directly across from the front of the Inn.
The breakfasts and dinners were also very well done, plenty of food and very fresh.
The owner's young daughter even came out to say goodbye and made us origami cranes with our names on them, which is my favorite souvenir that I brought home. I cannot recommend this accommodation enough, and I plan to return with my wife in the next couple of years.

Last minute booking kumano kodo stays I was worried about the distance but it was easy to get to with Japan's exceptional mass transit. A very well stocked grocery store 2 minute walk, which is the bus stop. We'll stocked kitchen. Family great! I need a long hike break & asked for a waterfall to hike to. The owner showed me on map AND dropped me off nearby!
Also you can do laundry in house.

This was the most exquisite experience of our whole trip to Japan. If you can do only one thing here, this would be worth it! They cooked a beautiful meal for us and it was the perfect spot to stop after a long day on the Kumano Kodo.

It is a lovely place! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the table tennis! :D. It was very quiet at night.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great guesthouse. The host, Sanae was lovely and helped us check in early because of the bad weather. The guesthouse was lovely with excellent amenities.
Great hostel just meters off the Kumano Kodo trail. Dinner was a tasty and plentiful bento box. Free filter coffee and tea available and good sized sleeping capsules in the dorms. The onsen was also a great bonus!
The location was convenient and quiet, you could hear the stream of water.
It was vibrant and full of like-minded backpackers looking after themselves and facilities which stayed clean throughout the stay.
The outdoor onsen of the hostel was delightful.
Great hostel! Located right along the Kumano Kodo, with great access to hiking. Stayed in the mixed dorm and was very impressed with the size and comfort of the beds. Lots of privacy for a hostel. Everything was clean. Kitchen well equipped. Private onsen access was great as well. Loved our stay here!
Great hostel in the nature, far away from noise and crowds. Good kitchen, bento box option, laundry and the onsen. Everything you might need after a long day of hiking.
Our host Manabu is very hospitable, and ensures everything is going well for your visit. We enjoyed the location, 10 .minutes walk to fabulous onsen, quiet rural village. There is a small minimalist for groceries, Okagesan yakitoria run by Manabu san, and the cafe at the onsen for meals.
We had a very comfortable stay at this humble guesthouse. The host was very sweet. The common area is nice and cozy. The location was great, close to the public bath house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This traditional Japanese house is very well looked after and is in a great location, and within walking distance of two onsen. Manabu is a great host, even delivering handmade rice balls each morning. We also ate at his restaurant which was very good. Highly recommended.
We loved the house and all its features. It was like living in a real Japanese home.
Great location. Peaceful and quiet.
Fantastic and helpful host. We had a great meal at his yakitori restaurant.
And he even left some lovely rice balls for us to have for breakfast the following day even though meals were not included.
