Stunning house and garden and exceptionally nice hostesses. We hesitated before buying the dinner which is quite expensive but were blown away by the incredible multi-course meal they served. It would have been difficult to find another open restaurant in this small town at night.

Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great hostel just meters off the Kumano Kodo trail. Dinner was a tasty and plentiful bento box. Free filter coffee and tea available and good sized sleeping capsules in the dorms. The onsen was also a great bonus!
The location was convenient and quiet, you could hear the stream of water.
It was vibrant and full of like-minded backpackers looking after themselves and facilities which stayed clean throughout the stay.
The outdoor onsen of the hostel was delightful.
Great hostel! Located right along the Kumano Kodo, with great access to hiking. Stayed in the mixed dorm and was very impressed with the size and comfort of the beds. Lots of privacy for a hostel. Everything was clean. Kitchen well equipped. Private onsen access was great as well. Loved our stay here!
Great hostel in the nature, far away from noise and crowds. Good kitchen, bento box option, laundry and the onsen. Everything you might need after a long day of hiking.
Our host Manabu is very hospitable, and ensures everything is going well for your visit. We enjoyed the location, 10 .minutes walk to fabulous onsen, quiet rural village. There is a small minimalist for groceries, Okagesan yakitoria run by Manabu san, and the cafe at the onsen for meals.
We had a very comfortable stay at this humble guesthouse. The host was very sweet. The common area is nice and cozy. The location was great, close to the public bath house.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This traditional Japanese house is very well looked after and is in a great location, and within walking distance of two onsen. Manabu is a great host, even delivering handmade rice balls each morning. We also ate at his restaurant which was very good. Highly recommended.
We loved the house and all its features. It was like living in a real Japanese home.
Great location. Peaceful and quiet.
Fantastic and helpful host. We had a great meal at his yakitori restaurant.
And he even left some lovely rice balls for us to have for breakfast the following day even though meals were not included.
