The owner, Toshi, is a very nice guy! His kindness is comforting to me. I'm grateful to him for introducing me to Kitoron - a hot spring facility that recently opened - and for driving me there in his car.

Asahikawa Ride, hotel in Higashikagura

Featuring free WiFi and a shared lounge, Asahikawa Ride offers accommodation in Asahikawa, 10 km from Asahiyama Zoo and 600 metres from Tokiwa Park.

It's compact but very clean and tidy. The bathrooms and social areas are well kept. The bed space itself is quite comfortable: it has a light, a fan and some space besides the mattress for a couple of backpacks. Also there are free earplugs if snorers don't let you sleep. The cats are relaxed and let you pet them sometimes. You can have free coffee. The washing machine and dryer are very cheap. The shower has got good pressure -although it's a bit narrow. Internet works well too.

The host and the other guests were very friendly. It was dark and quiet at night. It was close to the nearest station, and there was a convenience store nearby. The water has a noticeable iron content in it, so while things appeared dirty, but I think it was just because of the iron content.

The owner Ryu is so so lovely, I wish I could give this hostel a higher rating. Ryu was so kind to upgrade my accommodation to make me feel more comfortable, at no extra cost. It also really seems that he is concerned about the environment and I appreciate that so much. Fully equipped kitchen for guests use and there's a convenience store close by.

if you are looking for a familiar and friendly place to stay around, this is the place. the accommodation are good and we don’t really hear the road next door. The futons are really good and the main room was perfectly and easily fitting 4 to 6 people without being oppressed. The hosts are a reflection of this guesthouse : friendly and cozy. They are always willing to help for any issue you could have, and great people ! we had the chance having dîner and few apéro with them and it was great moments. I recommend 💯👌
