Guesthouse boro-ya, hotel in Otoyocho

Featuring mountain views, Guesthouse boro-ya provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 50 km from Kōchi Station.

Absolutely amazing place and location. The house is very special and made us feel like in the movies about Samurais:) It's a great experience to stay in such unique place. The house is spacious, spotless and very well equipped. Host Yancy is very nice and welcoming. I really recommend to buy green tea from his plantation as it's delicious and fragrant!! We were offered eggs from his hens and tried lemons which is the nicest I've ever had. The views were breathtaking at sunrise and sunset. The whole area is magical, just wish we could stay longer:( Will definitely come back if revisit Japan. Please bare in mind that it's a narrow and twisted drive up, so consider renting small car if you planning to drive in Shikoku mountains.

It is a very quiet area, and it feels safe. There are some restaurants and shops near the camp. Busstops are a 10 min walk, so decent for this type of area. Nice thick mattresses.

Staff was very helpful and responsive. Dedicated parking spot is just about 100m away. Its free. We stayed at ground floor room so access to shower and toilets was easy. Other shared rooms are upstairs. We also dined once in the cafe, it was good. They have good sake too.

Traditional Japanese room with futon & then single bed. We met some other guests to chat to. There is a washing machine which is useful. Seperate toilet for women is nice. Good cooking facilities, although we didn’t use.

Cosmos Guesthouse Iya Valley, hotel in Akano

Cosmos Guesthouse Iya Valley has air-conditioned guest accommodation in Akano, 47 km from Mannou Park, 48 km from Kotohiragu Shrine and 49 km from Tsurugi-san Chairlift.

Thankfully the staff came to pick me up in the evening because it's so dark and if you don't know the area, it can be hard to get there, so definitely keep communication with the place. It was quite easy to find other spots once daylight came and all at walking distance. The valley is amazing and I imagine lively during summer and warmer times, for the autumn is quieter but still great nature and interesting sightseeing.
