Although this is named a B&B, it does not serve breakfast. There is access to a shared kitchen on the ground floor (our room was on the first floor). The room is fairly spacious but a small refrigerator in the room and a comfortable chair to sit in would have been nice. The bed was quite comfortable, and the bathroom, with shower was clean and functional, if small. The locatioin is in a residential area about 3-4 blocks from the old town center so fairly convenient. On-street parking was always available in front of the residence. The neighborhood was safe, and we had no qualms about walking through it to the town center. The owner called us in advance to arrange letting us in to our apartment on arrival, and seemed willing to be helpful for other issues, though we did not need other assistence. The apartment and building were clean and well-maintained. Sulmona is a quint old town and a great jumping-off point for day-trips into the mountains and to the coast of Abruzzo, and we enjoyed our stay there.
Offering mountain views, Palazzo Pulieri is an accommodation situated in Altino, 28 km from San Giovanni in Venere Abbey and 33 km from Lake Bomba. The guest house has family rooms.

A beautifully restored palazzo, set atop a hill, overlooking surrounding hills & farmland. The palazzo has been in the host’s family for over 1000 years. Its a fascinating & much treasured historic building, with tastefully renovated modern bathrooms and modern bed mattresses (firm), in beautifully restored antique bed frames. The host and his daughter were very welcoming and friendly (without being at all intrusive). Our dog was made welcome too! We enjoyed sitting on the terrace soaking up the beautiful view. The palazzo is a well-run bed and breakfast. A friendly local bar served us a refreshing aperitivo. The host kindly booked us dinner in a nearby restaurant. A continental breakfast with coffee was served in the dining room. We enjoyed socialising with other guests and the hosts over breakfast. The palazzo has been tastefully renovated, with a fresh, yet historic feel. The whole experience of staying there was very special. We will return again!
Boasting a garden and views of mountain, La Freccia e il Leone is a recently renovated guest house set in Pratola Peligna, 40 km from Majella National Park.

Very nice owners. Good communication over Whatsapp. Great view. Location accessible from Rome by train.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
