Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
the host is very friendly. The accommodation is huge, there is a big kitchen, with lots of dining tables. everything you need for a nice meal. bathroom very tidy. we had the accommodation for ourselves, no other guests. the location was quiet. we enjoyed our stay very much and can recommend it!
I had a lovely stay here. Very comfy bed, beautiful views, nice kitchen and bathroom and very, very quiet. A real Icelandic experience which I am so happy to have experienced. The host was very welcoming and friendly and told me a lot about sheep farming in Iceland. Just be prepared for a fairly long gravel road. It is in the middle of nowhere.
Well-equipped kitchen with various spices available (you will need to take your own cooking oil), no breakfast but they do provide bread, jam also tea and coffee for guests. Host Eva is very kind, she generously shared some cooking oil with us for our dinner. The location of this guesthouse is perfect for road trip on route 711. The house is very tidy and it is a quiet, cosy and light pollution free place to stay. We got a room with nice fjord view (no luck with aurora though, maybe next time :D)
The keys were exactly where the host said they would be, so access to the cottage was a breeze. The location is easy to find, quiet, and private. We loved that there were utensils available and a coffee machine with reusable ceramic cups. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was extremely spacious with towels included. Thank you also for having wash cloths, which is not always the standard in Iceland.
Our room had a very nice view to the lake and to the horses. The patio was a very nice place to chill. Our host provided us a very nice modern kitchen with everything needed and there is a lot of space to sit and eat. The guesthouse had 7 rooms and 2 bathrooms which was convenient. Towels were provided. Breakfast such as bread, juice and marmelade were also included which was very nice. Wifi works perfectly.
Privately owned house in the middle of Icelandic nature. The host was very welcoming and showed us around his house. There is a big and well equipped kitchen which we could use and a living room/play area for kids. The place was very quiet and clean. The highlight of the stay was the two wild arctic fox pups, living on the farm area, which came out when you whistled and ran around your feet.
The place is wonderful. Great climate and quiet place in the remote area. We really like this gesthause, for its originality and wonderful host. The guesthouse is at the end of the fjord with a wonderful view. A real Icelandic climate in the middle of the nature and sheep. Nearby you can find several beaches with seals. In nice weather, you can see the Westfjords. I recommend this place to everyone.
