Central House, hotel in Shillelagh

Central House offers accommodations in Shillelagh, 11 miles from Mount Wolseley (Golf) and 14 miles from Altamont Gardens.

We were on a motorcycle trip. Sean was great about providing us with secure, off-street parking for our rented BMW. The room we stayed in was very pleasant and comfy. He even provided snacks and breakfast basics, which we'd not expected. The town itself was quiet and very charming.

The Monkey Puzzle, hotel in Shillelagh

The Monkey Puzzle is a recently renovated guest house in Bunclody where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge.

The location was ideal. It was a short walk to town to enjoy the people and businesses. This morning we went for a hike a short distance away at Deer Park, and we were glad we started from The Monkey Puzzle.

Excellent place to stay towards the end of The Wicklow Way (if coming from North to South). Host picked us up from point of the way we ended at. All facilities were easy to access and use, comfortable room and a good community space to chat with other guests.

The host was very kind and we experienced a very warm welcome. We were provided with everything we need and even had the opportunity to prepare something for our lunch. (We were hiking the Wicklow Way.) The coomon room was very cozy. We really enjoyed our short stay.

John, our host, could not have been more accommodating. We had a stressful journey to the property and were relieved at how easy it was to access and get settled in. The house was warm and welcoming, was secure and comfortable over night. In fact none of us have ever slept so well! The kitchen had everything we needed, the bed linen and towels were lovely and fresh. The whole house felt 'homely'

Ciaran was very friendly and helpful. There were beautiful animals (especially sweet little Mario the cat who was so patient and loving to my small child), lots of firewood to keep it cosy and toasty warm electric blankets in the comfy beds. Quiet location in the country but short drive to pubs and nearby points of interest.

It was self catering, but food essentials were generously provided. The hosts were very hospitable, friendly and helpful. It was a charming cottage in a remote location, with lots of local interest.
