Gotong Rotong bus station and convenience store are located about 10 to 15 mins away by foot. The quiet villa with nice ambience is tucked away from town. Padi fields just a few minutes walk from the villa. Tyson, Dedek and team are super friendly. Their dog Balu is a charm. They are able to organize trips to the jungle, Tangkahan, transport and etc. It's like a one-stop villa for everything. The room is of good size and bed is very comfortable. Restaurant in the villa serves good food. (One can always replenish drinking water in the restaurant.) There is no need to walk out for meals. In any case, not much choices available near the villa unless one goes to Bukit Lawang.
Bukit Lawang town is 20 minutes walk from the villa walking pass local residences. If not, one can take a motorbike to the town.
The jungle trek organized by Tyson comes with a friendly and knowledagble guide and assistant. Saw 2 orangutans and a few other monkeys. The trek is pretty demanding. It goes up hill and down and up and down. One need to be pretty fit.

Generally good communications. Owner, Thomas now organizes and rarely leads treks. No need to book trekking prior to arrival. He will organize something suitable at a prices as good as any other other company. Thomas Retreat looks out onto the river where you will finish a trek with a rafting. Restaurant food was generally good and prices reasonable. Mosquito nets on bed was helpful. I would stay here again.

This is one of the first guesthouses around the river, which makes it a great spot after long travels because you don’t have to haul your luggage too far. Muhdi and his staff are very friendly, there is a great restaurant. You can book trekking through the guesthouse. The room was pretty big and my particular one was away from the street and therefor very quiet.
I liked the staff kindness and their willingness to help. Also, the trekking guide was exceptional: respectuous to nature and people and very knowledgeable.
All rooms have a great view on the river with a green jungle wall behind. The area is quiet and surrounded by nature and other small guesthouses. The room was perfectly clean and spacious.
Andri was the nicest host ever, he helps you a lot with everything you might need, and personalize also the plans you want to do. Me and my family can only recommend to stay at Sahnan guest house.
Great cabins to stay. These cabins and the whole property look great. Don’t expect a huge 5-star hotel, but a cozy lodge with 4 cabins.
Jay is a great host. He can also arrange transport from and to Medan (airport), and excursions to the jungle (e.g. 2 day jungle tour with sleeping in the jungle).

The hotel is 30 minutes walking into the jungle and in a nice quiet area. Al you can hear is the river flowing by, the animals and the rain on the roof

We had a great time at the guesthouse. Brian is a great host and is mindful of his community and the environment. He invests in those who have need of it. We arranged our jungletrek through Brian and had a great time spending two nights on the jungle with Brosit and the guys. We lacked nothing and learned a lot about the animals we saw. Great experience!
The bungalows are super cute! The hosts are lovely, speak excellent English, and organised a pick-up from the bus station. You can get some food and drinks at the guesthouse for cheap, and the walking street is not far. Room and bathroom are kept clean. Basic room, but comfortable. Only three bungalows, so it can be booked out very fast!
The guesthouse was at a great location and the host was very friendly and organized anything you needed. We did 2 day trek and everything was great. We saw many animals (including orangutans) and had plenty of food - the guide Tambrin and his assistant put lot of effort into making it the best time for you. Definitely recommend going on this trek with Tambrin!
Great location in Bukit Lawang, lovely grounds and outlook directly over the river. Beautiful teak rooms with outstanding bathroom facilities. Rooms and the whole guesthouse are spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds and importantly, a quiet room upstairs . Indra and Nana, and all the staff are wonderful, and very friendly. The restaurant food is great - you wouldn't even need to go elsewhere to eat. Thankyou Indra and Nana.
