The Wayside & Whisky Barn ticked all the boxes. First class service, super comfortable beds, a beautiful roaring log fire in our bedroom and of course an amazing selection of over 150 whiskies.
Not forgetting the delicious breakfasts with fresh home baked breads, plus we had a fantastic 3 course meal followed by Irish coffees on the Saturday night, total perfection. We will definitely be back soon.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Fantastic hosts, already booked a return visit couldn't do enough for me, highly recommended a great quiet environment made to feel at home! Thank you so much.
Great location next to the city center. The room has everything you need: iron, extra towels, and toothbrush. If you forget anything, just ask, and they'll provide it. Free parking is available next to the hotel.
The location suited our purpose, being within walking distance to the town centre but quiet at night too
Ian couldn't do enough and was a welcoming host.
He even cleared his yard, so we had off-street parking for our bikes
Ian and phoebe are great hosts. Easy to speak too and can’t do enough for you. Would highly recommend staying with them. Location is great, right by town, pubs and food places close by, as well supermarkets.
Fantastic property in a great central location. Tobi is a great host who gave us more than enough information about the property and surrounding areas. Netflix and WiFi were a great touch.
Keys were a easy and safe pick up, house was perfectly tidy and bigger than expected. Plenty of room for the whole family.
Would definitely recommend for anyone needing a place to stay in that area.
Would like to say a massive thank you to Tobi again as he went above and beyond to make sure we were having a comfortable stay.
Victoria House was in a great location close to my work and the room I booked was clean, tidy and comfortable. Darren and Sue were great hosts, very friendly and helpful.
Very very kind hosts, very caring, good equipped rooms, outstanding fantastic breakfast, great location for many Lake District Tours, parking along the street in front of Guest House.... would always come back when travelling Cumbria.
I have just stayed a week at this guest house. Everything was fine. I have no complaints whatsoever. The hosts are charming, the place is spotlessly clean, it is 5 minutes from Barrow Rail Station. It is a grand old Victorian house. It has a nice vibe about it.
It's right on the edge of the towns main street (Morrison's) is meters away. 15 minute stroll from train station. If you want 5 star you pay for 5 star at £30 a night do not expect 5 star. You get a quaint room, TV, great WiFi, fridge, micro wave, share of a kitchen (if needed) and shared bathroom. A great host. For 3 nights - on my own - it was inexpensive and very adequate.
