They are renovating the place, but the photos are still old. The stay was therefor much better than expected. Nice to have a pool, it can get really hot and humied on the island. Everything is close, but far enough to be out of the noise.

Excellent tours and super friendly tourguides organised by hotel. They were very flexible because of the weather and fully focused on giving us the best experience. We took a night tour and canoe tour. Really enjoyed it and recommended

They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Absolutely loved this place. My first time in Tortuguero and it was so special. Arriving by taxi boat to the GuestHouse on the water was fun, and the views from the terrace were fantastic. The host was amazing - super friendly and happy to chat. There are only two rooms so feels very private. Took the night tour and morning Kayak tour which both left from the guesthouse - highly recommend doing both.
If your looking for luxury, then this may not be for you. But if your looking for location, character, beauty, great service, something different, peace and quiet, wildlife, charming owners, then this could well be for you. Owner a real character and does everything he can to look after you.

If you want somewhere authentic, in the local village with great hosts Gloria and Sergio, do not hesitate to book here. Very clean, quiet, ideally situated. We did the night walk/boat with Gloria and Sergio which was amazing, definitely worth doing. If you need a taxi boat or want to do a tour of the canals, go through Owen, their friend. The traditional breakfast was delicious.
The location is stunning. We saw toucans, macaws, sloths, the incredible Montezuma Oropendola nests hanging in the trees, it’s was truly incredible. Willis the owner was a great host and the kitchen out on a great breakfast and dinner.
I can’t speak highly enough of the grounds and how well kept it is. A true testament to them.
Stay for 2 nights at a minimum, the town is great but the tranquility of Rankins is unmatched.

Great location on the side of the football pitch, 2 minutes from the beach and 2 minutes from the dock. Welcoming and friendly, kids loved relaxing in the hammock and the hostel run canoe trip
