Francesca and Paolo are wonderful people and provide a perfect place to stay. It was quite unexpected but Francesca even provided a breakfast each morning with produce from her garden. The whole property was a delight. One morning there was a thunderstorm so we spent it watching the herbs and produce being lovingly prepared for local restaurants. We managed to walk into Arona and back but it is quite a hike and the first time we got lost and Paolo went looking for us after we phoned but we did find out way back before we were 'rescued' after walking much further than necessary. Anyway, they are a very caring friendly couple who made the stay there even more delightful.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at tenuta la vigna in Malgesso. Everything was perfect: the fantastic garden with olive trees and swimming pool, the confortable bedrooms, the incredible breakfast with homemade cakes (and much more). We were fantastically taken care of by Enzo and Valeria, the owners, who made us feel at home. Thank you tenuta la vigna, we had a great time and hope to come back soon!

Set in the hills above Verbania, Agriturismo Monterosso is a working farm from 1888. It produces its own meat, fruit and vegetables, which you can sample in the restaurant and buy to take home. There are about 60 steep curves from Verbania until one reaches the top of Monterosso where the hotel is. But once you overcome those obstacles, you have the most beautiful view over Lago Maggiore (including Isola Bella), excellent home-made meals from local ingredients and relaxing atmosphere.

With panoramic views of the Alps and Lake Maggiore, Agriturismo Da Attilio offers a peaceful location and a traditional restaurant, a 25-minute drive from Cannobio. The view of Lago Maggiore was amazing. The food was some of the best I had in Italy during out stay. There were lots of great hiking trails nearby. The staff was friendly and their pets were adorable.

Set in Ticino Nature Park, Cascina Campaccio is in Taino, 5 minutes' drive from the shores of Lake Maggiore. This country-style house features a cosy lounge with fireplace. This b&b was nicely decorated, very clean and staff was very pleasant. It was a bonus to have a sauna in the room.

This family run Agriturismo is well worth a visit. We were made welcome by Wilma the owner, who gave us great information on local restaurants, and explained the hike to the local waterfall from the accommodation, and other amazing places to visit. The natural surroundings are wonderful. The rooms are quality and the buildings well designed for the landscape.
