This property is in an ancient mill, and was only very recently restored (like, months ago) by the architect who owns the farm. It has a stunning view, lying just at the base of the hill that the town of Assisi sits on. You look up and there is the old city. It’s a working agricultural enterprise. Olives were being harvested while we were there. The host, Diego, greeted us with espresso, toasted bread, and the fresh olive oil that had been pressed literally a few days before. You can buy olive oil and local wine for very reasonable prices as you check out. Breakfast was the best we had in Italy. On Sunday morning Diego’s wife and mother (mother-in-law?) served us a delicious ham and cheese torte and a homemade apple and fig pie that were still warm from the oven and a little taste of heaven. The room was completely modernized but in a style that was appropriate to the ancient building and had high-style fixtures and amenities. Diego was very helpful in making recommendations for dinner. I could have stayed here longer! Very warm hospitality and incredible surroundings.
Le Mandrie Di San Paolo offers an outdoor infinity pool with panoramic views over the Umbrian hills. There is a free parking and a restaurant serving characteristic regional dishes.
For travelers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts might offer interactive kid-friendly activities or for couples, a cozy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is usually included – you may even be collecting the eggs yourself!
The agriturismo was good enough for my family to stay three nights. It was clean and well equipped with living wares, and I can easily access many attractive places, including Assisi. The host was very kind, and she was always responsive to my request. Further, the swimming full was so clean and well maintained that it was very useful for my family. The host provided me with clothes washing service as well. This agriturismo is excellent for a traveler who has a car.
I loved the farm/property, it was absolutely gorgeous. The sunsets were incredible and it was very peaceful and quiet. The young lady who worked at reception was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The on-site restaurant was also amazing, using the produce from their farm, and very affordable.
I can’t praise Malvarina enough. Lovely secluded location on a hill outside Assisi. Wonderfully relaxing farm, run by a friendly and helpful family. Room was great with a fantastic view over the valley and sunsets. The food was fantastic - delicious set menu for dinner which changed each day. Home cooking at its absolute best! Wish I could have stayed longer.
