From the minute the cab pulled up I felt like I’d gone back in time. Oh, it’s completely modern, with individual ac and good showers alright. But it seems like something out of a movie, an eccentric independent comedy when life was good and there was a kind of innocent charm despite the cool modernist vibe. The two desk managers spoke fluent English and were both effective and charming in dealing with my several offbeat issues. The place was full of couples who seemed to be there for a day or two (Not hours!) to have a fun few days, most of them Asian and the odd Westerner who seemed much less fun than the former. I felt right at home with the large Turkish population (great food) and occasional girl gang, right at home with working class surroundings, and Itaewon is full of local service workers. There’s smoking and drinking on a few corners, lots of lovely pig restaurants, pet dogs from Pomeranians to Great Pyrenees, I even saw a laid back Border Collie. I like busses over subways and lots were nearby. Fast food joints, tourist junk shops, Trans bars and a tailor and coffee houses. KFC, McDonald’s, Subway. A convenience store on every corner. There’s even a grocer a few blocks away where you will see… fruit!

We loved the feel of the wood paneling. The lighting is an interesting mix of modern and retro. The decor is mature, elagant and tasteful. Everything is neat and minimalist. Less is more, and that means this is plenty.

But the hosts were available to answer my call and gave clear directions. They were incredibly helpful in answering any questions through the online system too.
