This place is so special! Surrounded by jungle and wildlife. Beautiful CLEAN (no trash) stream on the property, and if you are lucky, the owners will have a rescue otter in their care that you can visit. The structures are wooden joglo type buildings, so open air and more rustic. BUT - Erica does an AMAZING job of keeping it all so clean. I don't know how she does it (we live in Indonesia and know how hard it is to keep things clean). Just little things like the light fixtures and fans being spider and bug free. This is a treat for a place in the middle of a jungle! But - westerners be aware - you will be STAYIN IN A JUNGLE - there WILL be wildlife and small lizards. So you may come across a few ants in your kitchen or a tiny piece of lizard poo somewhere. BUT - you are IN THE JUNGLE - please do not complain. This couple works SO Hard to make this place clean and enjoyable, and one of the wonderful thinks about it is that it is in nature, and the natural habitat keeps it all healthy. So - if you want a sterile environment, go to a traditional cement hotel. But if you want a restful place to stay after hiking Ijen, or you want to enjoy nature and take a break from the city, wow, this place is so special. If we didn't live 7 hours away, we would make this place an annual destination. Thank you Mark and Erica for your care and attention.

This was absolutely the best accommodation we’ve had in our trip across Java. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We arrived late without dinner and they brought us a snack and a delicious welcome drink. We felt right at home instantly. The location is absolute perfection with a beautiful farm where all of the produce for your breakfast comes from. The house itself is impeccably decorated in a traditional-meets-modern style (for Indonesia) and the sounds of frogs and insects will lull you to sleep. Consider spending 2 full days here, it’s more than a stop over to visit Ijen Mountain. The walks through the rice fields and villages are among the best we’ve experienced. 12/10 would recommend.

From hiking and biking through picturesque rice fields to visiting stunning waterfalls, there's so much to do. The homestay is spacious and pleasant, offering plenty of room and comfort for guests. Agus himself is an exceptional host. He organized a great tour to Ijen for me and shared many excellent recommendations for local activities and sights. His guidance and hospitality provided a much more authentic experience of the region than one can get elsewhere. Hope to visit again soon!

Featuring mountain views, Ijen Miner Family Homestay features accommodation with a garden and a terrace, around 35 km from Watu Dodol. With garden views, this accommodation offers a balcony. Ali and his wife are very friendly and helpful. We came without a car, and they let us borrow a motorcycle, cooked for us, brought us tea often, and shared stories about sulphur mining. My family enjoyed seeing the chickens, goats, and even a rabbit and cat that played together! We also enjoyed the Sendang Seruni swimming area that is a one kilometer walk from their place.
