The room was very clean and nicely decorated and well laid out. Exellent breakfast, attentive friendly and helpful staff. Exellent location, easy access to the main centre.

Steinenschanze Stadthotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. The room and the bed were extremely comfortable. It was also very quiet. They were able to check us in and let us into our rooms, even though it was still morning. Which was a very welcome surprise, since we had just arrived from our Viking River Cruise and wanted to rest before we ventured into the city.
