It has a nice view, so you can sit outside and enjoy it. Really silent atmosphere where you get to hear just the sound of leaves and eventually crickets or goats :)
And a very nice breakfast!

We loved our room. Beautifully styled with some gorgeous Portuguese antique pieces. Comfy bed. Well equipped kitchen for small meals. Location was great for what we wanted to do. Zambujal is an amazing rural farming village. Walking little bits of the camino de Santiago was lovely and exploring the villages, farming land and local communities was so enjoyable. We even got to like the church bells telling us the time. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

The view is breathtaking, and the house feels cozy and inviting. The heaters are a lifesaver, keeping the icy weather at bay. Plus, it’s wonderful that they allow dogs, making it a perfect getaway for pet owners.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
Enclosed, secure, gated property off the grid. We were greeted by a couple dogs. We stayed in one of the main floor units. Were told there was someone else there, but we never saw or heard them. Well equipped kitchen; left us fresh loaf of bread with local jam. Comfortable bed; got to try out a weighted blanket (I liked it!). All rooms were large: great room, bedroom, bathroom, all were spacious. Strong internet. Beautifully renovated old mansion. Highly recommend seeing the Roman Ruins nearby; unexpected but amazing, especially the mosaics!
The accommodation is exceptional. Every effort has been made to retain the original design while ensuring all modern facilities are included (dishwasher, good internet etc). The bed was very comfortable and the area is so peaceful so sleep was no problem. The kitchen is very well appointed to allow you to cook if you want to. Restaurant options are limited outside of weekends so best to be prepared with food just in case. There is a lovely deck to sit on for meals and drinks. The views are postcard perfect.
The experience of staying in a schist village is unique. Peaceful and in nature. The meal in the taberna was good although the owner had to chase the resident pigs away they were harmless and inquisitive
Amazing location, so peaceful, unusual and very rustic, fantastic scenery. The local people were so welcoming and friendly. DEFINITELY worth going Relaxing few days thank you
This is a very nicely fitted out cottage, conveniently located for both arriving by car and accessing hiking trails. Candal is very charming, and there is a lovely restaurant next door that when we visited was open on weekends. We had a lovely stay here, and would recommend highly.
The owner is very knowledgeable about hiking. The house is located in a quiet, interesting village with cafes and shops. The nature is simply stunning all around.
A beautiful, newly renovated house. Everything is new and sparkling clean. There are many thoughtful touches to make your stay memorable; capsules for the Nespresso coffee machine, a jar full of cookies, and more. The location is very central but very quiet and peaceful. There's new (and very quiet) air con in all rooms. The host is lovely and gives loads of useful information about the city, hikes in the area and good restaurants. Highly recommended.
It's a very calming place, peaceful and quiet. It's away from the city, roads and I can't ask for more. Thank you for your lovely service. Much appreciated 👍
We enjoyed the quiet countryside where Quinta de Vale Escuro is located and the beautiful property. We also enjoyed the swimming pool each afternoon. Our hosts were very accommodating, despite our language challenges. Thank goodness for Google Translate!
One last note - our previous accommodation was canceled by the host due to illness, and this booking was accepted with only one hour notice. We are very grateful for that!
