Find the country houses that appeal to you the most
Looking for a country house?
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes located in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, like trekking, bird watching, and cycling.
We stayed in a two-bedded room at the hostel. It was comfortable and had everything that we required. Check-in was straightforward. The communal spaces were pleasant and the whole place was quiet and peaceful. Onsite parking was easy. The main plus point was the location, right next door to the Glendalough religious site, with wonderful walks direct from the front door - magical!
There is very beautiful nature and a quiet place, and Patric was so friendly. He gave us useful tips for hiking and also for good restaurants in neighbourhood. Finally, you can see wildlife animals like sika deer, birds etc.
Excellent location for our two-nights stay ! 20 minutes walk to Glendalough where the hiking trails begin.
The hotel is charming, we had one of the rooms located in the garden, it was very quiet. Wi-fi is included. Breakfeast is not included, we had one in the associated restaurant wich was very good.
What a lovely hotel ! The location is perfect for visiting Glendalough park ; even though it;s on a (not overly busy ) highway , our room was quiet and peaceful - we had the windows open to the sound of a stream on the property , very nice ! Also the food was exceptional , Aunty Biddies Guinness stew was the best we've tasted in Ireland , and the service was quick and friendly . Will need a return trip I think !
We absolutely loved the whole experience! The Pods were fantastic, everything was so so clean!! The site was so peaceful and quiet! We had the best nights sleep ever! All the facilities were brilliant and the location was fantastic for all the hikes, walks, trails, lakes and things we wanted to see and do!!
The location is fantastic and that's really what you are paying for - you are right in the heart of Glendalough, with the walks and lakes on your doorstep. It's a nice, if slightly dated, country hotel with a good bar and restaurant. Our room was quiet and comfortable - not that big, but enough for the two of us. The bathroom was a good size. The outdoor food/drinks bar is a nice touch for the summer.
Although located next to a heavily trafficed road, we had a room in a little garden house, behind the main house down a little slope - absolutely quiet. Perfect for hiking/cycling to glandalough or wicklow way.
