Rydal Lodge, hotel in Windermere

With a beautiful riverside location, Rydal Lodge Hotel offers elegant Lake District accommodation, 2 miles from the centre of Ambleside.

Fabulous location as a base for exploring the area - plenty of walks to start and finish at the Lodge. Breakfast provided a great start to the day and certainly kept us going past normal lunch. We stayed in the 16th Century part of the Lodge, so be prepared for quirky - and sloping floors!

The Coach House is 10 min walk from the town centre, which makes it ideal for quieter and more peaceful stay. The hosts are super friendly and caring, ready to go an extra mile for their guests. I was grateful to have an extra hour on the day I checked out. Breakfast was delivered to my room at chosen time and it was lovely.

The on-site parking was a big bonus for us. It was really quiet and peaceful. Close to both Windermere & Bowness-on-Windermere. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed.

The place is beautiful. So peaceful and very chic. As others say, incredibly comfortable bed, very spacious apartment with a really luxurious vibe. We felt very spoiled. Although we didn’t have views from our windows we were surrounded by trees which felt very peaceful and it was so quiet at night that a good nights rest was guaranteed. The location was second to none.

Beautiful, quiet location. Property has a great mix of period atmosphere and modern facilities. In fine weather it's a real luxury to be able to sit in the small garden and take in the lovely view across the valley while eating breakfast. Nearby shop has essentials and there is a good pub within 10 minute-walking distance for meals, but property's kitchen has everything you might need for self-catering.

Amazing location, right next to the high street but it was quiet at night. Breakfast had lots of choice and mostly self service, with some hot food to order. My room faced lots of trees which was very peaceful. There's a quiet street that leads straight down to the lakeside (a bit less than a mile) and once you're down there the views are breathtaking. It's a bit steep and sometimes uneven ground so should be a bit sure footed.

The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The staff, whilst leaving you alone, are always there if you need them and are very helpful. Although the property was full with guests, there were no problems with noise, in fact it was very quiet and peaceful. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. A lovely 15 minutes walk from the property into Bowness.

I would highly recommend staying at this property. We have a lovely peaceful stay. Very quiet of a night time. The room was clean and modern. The shower works fine. The TV is a late model. The bed was very comfortable. The apartment was stocked up with everything we needed for our 3 night stay. Martin the owner gave us a warm welcome. Presented our room and offered prompt assistance during our stay. We will be returning in the near future. Thank you.
