We had a great stay at Swarthmoor Hall. The location is incredibly peaceful, offering a lovely getaway surrounded by nature, yet only a short distance from Ulverston town centre. The beautifully maintained gardens were a highlight.
The accommodation itself was both cozy and comfortable. With a lot of luggage, we truly appreciated being able to drive right up to the front of the accommodation to unload before parking, which made our arrival so much easier.
We recommend staying at Swarthmoor Hall.

It was located in the most stunning and peaceful of places. And because it was small and intimate, we felt as though we were looked after really well. Richard and his staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable. The food was delicious and we will definitely be going back.

Lovely room, great decor, very comfortable bed and great breakfast. Staff were friendly, professional and everything worked like clockwork.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
Excellent B&B, very clean, very cosy, quiet, peaceful and loving in everything from the details of the room to the attention given.
All the surroundings are excellent for those who like walking, giving you the privilege of walking in the mountains, by the sea or in the forests, the scenery is so marvellous and beautiful.
One of the best places I've stayed, it's really worth it.
Thank you Jaeinne and Peter.
The property was lovely, 3 bedroom all with onsuite which suited our family of 5. The views from the property are beautiful. It is a very peaceful and quiet part of Ulverston. The host were really friendly and helpful. Clean throughout and everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you.
Straight away as soon as we arrived, the owner was out to greet you and help with everything about the property. She advised us of local places to eat both to which were very very good! Told us about local walks into Ulverston, which was beautiful and only a short walk into the town which is very handy. The hot tub was a beautiful touch to the pod, it’s so quiet and peaceful just everything you could want for a peaceful stay.
This lovely quaint cottage was quiet and peaceful. It had 2 large sitting rooms with tv’s and large comfy sofas. The bedroom was immaculate with a fabulous power shower. The whole place was gorgeous and I’m hoping for a return visit.
The location of the place is in a nice quiet place outside the village with close access to the petrol station, MC Donald, and nice hiking to the local mountain monument.
Loved the small village location - lots of lovely southern lakes towns/places of historic interest and beautiful countryside close by; the cottage was comfortable and cosy, beds very comfortable - really enjoyed the peace and quiet with all the home comforts. Sam, the host was great at communication.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful location with countryside and forest walks nearby. Really comfortable beds, beautiful simple decor and lots of little extras to make for a relaxing stay.
Gleaston is a beautiful, tranquil village setting for a relaxing short break. Mike and Vicky were helpful and welcoming and the cottage was cosy with all modern conveniences and amenities. It was a rare treat being able to take a bath after a long day of trekking in the Lake District. It was extremely quiet at night and the bed was super comfortable so we slept like babies. We were treated to a complementary guided tour of the neighbouring water mill.
Beautiful cottage, very clean with wonderfully comfy beds, everything you needed was there. Excellent location in centre of town but quiet & peaceful too. Didn’t have chance to use outdoor area but looked fab. Logburner made it very cosy , kitchen very well equipped- would highly recommend.
