Find the country houses that appeal to you the most
Looking for a country house?
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
The room was very big and very comfortable. The bath was a really nice luxury! Breakfast was the best I've had on the whole trip (hiking Lands End to John O'Groats). Great vegan selection and plenty to choose from (toast and preserves, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, cooked breakfast). The manager/ front of house was so attentive and went above and beyond.
Lovely hosts, welcoming and knowledgeable.
Room nice and big with a comfy bed and large bathroom with space. Large car park and area is peaceful and quiet.
Breakfast was delicious, with a great choice. Cannot fault it would love to stay here again. Thank you
Great little pine chalet in quiet countryside 10 mins drive from Tain and 15 mins walk from Portmahomock. Cosy bedroom, lounge with tv, bathroom with roomy electric shower and kitchen diner with microwave, fridge, induction hobs, kettle and coffee machine. Everything you need for a self catering break. Ideally placed for Tain or walking the coastal path to Tarbet Ness. Super peaceful at night. Reminded us of a traditional Norwegian hytter.
Breakfast was excellent. Staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Quiet location, beautiful old mansion. Highly recommend Mansfield and would certainly stay there again.
The house was in a quiet location, the room was so nice and the mattress was the best. The breakfast in the morning was amazing such a lovely selection. The hostess was very friendly I would highly recommend this location as it is so nice and peaceful.
Exceptionally thought out, beautifully presented. Location, five minutes from Tain but could give Vicki’s horses a scratch on the nose in the morning. So peaceful and quiet. We stay in holiday rentals 2 to 3 months a year all over the world. This is a very, very rare 10 out of 10. And Vicki is not such a bad host either! Though one of the horses did give her a nasty bight. This is a great taste of Highland ‘true local’ without the kilts
What an amazing & clever use of the roof space. VERY luxuriously appointed & a massive comfy bed.
It's remote enough right on the Dornock Firth for peace & quiet but still connected to civilization.
We only had 1 night as part of a 1500 mile tour but we'll DEFINITELY be back !
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Very quiet, peaceful surroundings. Good location, can walk into Tain.
