Find the country houses that appeal to you the most
Looking for a country house?
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
Old English charm. Very comfortable room, clean, ample room for solo/ couple, friendly and helpful staff, delicious meals (dinner & dessert),, enjoyed afternoon sunshine in the beer garden, lovely quiet village setting.
I LOVED my room, with all the beams! What atmosphere! The bed was extremely comfortable. It was quiet and I go ta really good night's sleep. The food was very good indeed. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
This was a last minute 1 night booking for me, arriving late in the evening and leaving early the next morning. Despite this, owner Maggie went above and beyond to ensure that everything was available on my arrival. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast very good. The location is very secluded but quiet/peaceful and the surrounding area is beautiful - only wish I was staying longer.
If you want to spend some time in a luxurious English country house, this is the place. It is approached from a long gravel drive, and then the magnificent house itself becomes visible. Our accommodation (in the Stables) was spacious, comfortable and clean, while the breakfast (extra) was very good.
Absolutely exceptional property. The most beautifully appointed room and amenities. Gorgeous countryside. A pleasure to meet the owner and his lovely dogs. Absolute luxury!
The cottage is very well equipped with everything we needed. The location is excellent for walks and visiting historic villages and towns. In addition, it is well situated for a relaxing, quiet break in the countryside.
Beautiful setting and property, lovely host. Very comfortable and relaxing. More like being a guest in someone’s (amazing) home, than a hotel stay. Do not stay here if you want a thousand TV channels, air-con and Stella Artois on tap. Do stay here if you want the quintessential English country house, peace and quiet and home produced honey with your toast! (The Six Bells pub is a short drive away and a good option for dinner)
Exceptional, from charming host and staff, heated outdoor swimming pool, enchanting room looking out onto the garden and countryside beyond, with four-poster bed and exquisite ensuite bathroom, lovely quiet house and location, to bike storage in the garage. This was a fabulous discovery for us. Worth every penny.
We had a very warm welcome at Rectory Manor, with very attentive staff. The property is beautiful, set in a very quiet and peaceful area. The room was lovely, with a fantastic bath and very comfortable bed. All was spotlessly clean. We would come here again, and will be recommending it to our friends.
